I have not yet added any fertilizer. I’ve also seen many people start their grow process with a small cup for the seedling to grow into. I decided to plant it straight into the big pot I had ready once it was germinating. I’ve been trying to keep up with many of the great info people have been putting out on the forum. I’m using FF ocean floor soil also seedling seems to love it. I keep humidity between 65%-69% and heat at 72F-74F. I also read to not use fertilizer yet, but I have the bergmans seedling booster (have not used this yet). Seedling was planted Monday (6/27). Any pointers and growing recommendations are appreciated! Also I use a sprayer to water with and it really helps with the overwatering. Something I took in advance off the forum!
You won’t have to add fertilizers for 4 to 6 weeks. Monitor runoff PPM and begin feeding when PPM dips below 1,000.
Looks great. Be careful to not overwater. Overwatering at this stage is by far the most common cause for plant loss. She only needs a couple ml of water a day at this point. Increase watering volume as she grows.
Welcome to the forum.
Welcome to the community . You won’t need to use any nutrients for at least 4 or 5 weeks in FFOF. You don’t want to over water seedlings. I definitely would dome it (either a clear solo cup or cut a clear plastic bottle) spray the inside with water and place over your seedling. They take up water at this point through their leaves.
Your baby looks great at this point. Happy Growing
Thank you! I did what you recommended and spritzed some water in a clear cup and put it over the seedling!
Welcome to the community! Now that you have a sprout, whats your grow plan? Intentions for training etc etc. Have you thought ahead to drying and curing?
I did some research seeing that most people keep lights on for 18-24hrs a day. I plan to do 24hrs up until the flowering stage then 12hrs on and 12hrs off. I’ve done a small amount of research in curing and drying but thought about doing the whole drying process in my tent and I believe after that I place them in jars to cure with fresh air let in once a day. This is testing my knowledge a bit but it’s definitely stuff I want to master. As for training it’s still something I am learning and reading up on. I’ve seen people tie down their branches in order to get a better max yield in a small amount of space (tent is 2x2x4). I plan on doing this and also the “lollipop” method when time comes.
Welcome Aboard…Old hippie newbie here.
I also started in FF ocean, after the sprout added worm castings at 70/30 mix.
Started the Bergman ferts 4 weeks later at 5%. reduction. Started LST right after transplant followed by minor pruning.
Use Blumat watering system. PPM, who knows?
SFSG
7th week…
Forgot to mention, went from 24 to 18/6 lighting yesterday
I do that also except I go 18/6 after. Autos do great in 18/6.
Recomend the tent 100%
This is part 1 of a three part series on the subject, I follow this to the letter and have had great results. Bill Ward is a great old hand and ilgm is a sponser so you get a good preview on ilgm seeds. His videos have been priceless for me.
Excellent plan.
I also recommend a bud wash. Some will say only for outdoor plants but I wash all my buds and am blown away by how dirty the wash water gets.
I’m planting Trainwreck feminized seeds. I saw I could 18/6 but so far I already started having the lights on 24hrs and just figured I’d keep it like this until it’s time for it to flower. I definitely need to look into the lollipop method more. As well as the stress training. I’ll definitely follow Bill Ward on YouTube!
Welcome to the community ! 18/6 light schedule would be Efficient for veg stage. Flowering 12/12. Good luck
Personally i do not see the need for 24/7 light. They only use so much. I personally prefer to save the electric. Your temps are good enough. Closer to 80 will accelerate growth. You actually can probably cover or not at those temps with the seedling. Here is a little cream that just poked her head. Ill leave her uncovered unless she cries.
24/7 light kinda just ended up being like that because I forgot to switch the light cycle to 18/6. I don’t know if it’s too late or not to change the light schedule? It popped out of the ground this past Tuesday.
Can change anytime. Young and learning. They will adjust.
Hey @An-Cap1776 Welcome, looks like you’re starting well. When the seedling starts to need watering it’s good to remember to water outside the perimeter of the widest leaves. This prevents overwatering and encourages roots to grow out to seek the water. Enjoy.
Just my opinion, so take it or leave it, but I’m not crazy about the 24 hours of light. I feel every living thing benefits from some rest. I have great results with 18/6, plus you save a little electricity. 20/4 is also popular.
Welcome aboard, the more growers the better. Absolutely nothing wrong with planting directly into their forever home, a bit more patience is required as she expands her horizon’s. I also grow n FFHF, n FFOF, with perlite, n worm castings, I throw n some dry steamed bone meal, n Mykos. This has worked for me many years now. N everybody that keeps insisting not to feed for 4 to 6 weeks, because the HF, n OF is already “hot”. Doesn’t fly n my experience, I’ll feed with Jack’s clone n seedling mix, as soon as she’s established a solid base. I go by the stem color n thickness mostly, n rely on my experience. At this stage they don’t require a lot of H2O, r intense lighting. I’ll half dose what’s called for with the Jack’s, n water a circle around the youngster’s outer circumference so as not to get the stem. Now that will burn her to death. There aren’t many absolute’s when growing that must b done. Experimenting with the so called social norms, is what it’s all about. If the youngster’s don’t like the additional feeding, they let u know promptly, with plenty of time to correct any problems. Hence the photo fem, r regular seed’s. U landed n the proper spot to enhance n tune ur growing abilities. Good luck, stay lit… …
Photo plants need darkness. During the day they are in photosynthesis mode and storing up energy. When the lights go out they are in metabolic mode and utilizing the stored energy from the day. If you do not give this to them, they are always in photo mode. We all need rest to repair, rebuild and restore.
How do you store seeds for future planting???
