My first 4 did amazing the first two weeks but…

Why is this happening? My first 4 seeds started off amazingly well only to fall over the side of the pot like a stroke victim. I use a basic led on for 24 hours for now with a small fan. Please help as I have more to plant and can’t take the disappointment.

Pictures?

The most common cause of seedling loss is overwatering.

K… here’s a pic as you can see the soil is almost bone dry.

@Shemora1234 see how the bottom of the stalk is thinner than the top? She’s reaching for the light. Move the light closer to her. What’s the distance now? Also, you can bury the stem deeper to help with support. Sometimes an outside support is necessary like toothpicks to hold her up until the stalk begins to harden. When you’re stalk stretches like that it’s telling you she want more light.

@Reed71 thanks so much! So you think I should water more and increase light?

Its physics, she is taller above ground then bellow and with the cotyledens at the top making her very top heavy she rolled like a Ford Bronco II.
You are gonna want to prop her back up somehow.
She is 2 weeks old? What kind of RH does her environment have? Have you given her any water since sprouting? Dont give her too much, sprouts drink from the air and too much water in the soil will slow root expansion at this time. No more then a few ml of water if you do water her.

NO you do not want the pot wet. Dome her and mist the inside of the dome. Seedlings get minimal water. I never have to water my seedlings since I presoak the soil while germing. Seedlings do not have roots. You give them too much water and it will damp her off and she will not come back from that at this sensitive stage in the process.

Thank you and for some strange reason physics vs. appearance don’t agree and the root for this seedling is much longer than the stem. I only know this because of the advice I received and took earlier. Switched to a larger pot, moistened the soil and increased the light. So far so good. I believe for fear of overwatering, I under-watered. I made the noted corrections and am very optimistic. Will send updated pic tomorrow. Thanks for taking time to reply… :rose:

Oh my. Fingers crossed all will be well. We’ll see in the morning. Thanks again…

From germ to 2 weeks it is what i call the leave them alone stage. I use a super sprouter with heat pad and other than monitoring the temp and humidity, i do nothing.

Think about a microphone stand without a wide base, it would fall over because of the top heavyness. She will be ok, just put something in there to hold her up.

Following up…looking good this morning…

thanks all for the feedback
