This is what makes coco so popular for cannabis. If you have things dialed in plant growth is usually very fast.
Someone mentioned smell in re to exhausting the tent.
Matters to some more than others I suppose.
I run dual filters; an intake filter inside with the AC fan, and an exhaust filter outside.
It’s overkill, but it’s really effective. Air exchange needs to be 24/7 to control odor tho.
I have two in-line fan. Just too lazy to install the second. but once I flower them I will!
Up to you. All topping does is turn one main cola into two smaller colas. Topping multiple times will give you a bunch of even smaller primary colas. There are advantages and disadvantages to topping just like everything else. Whether or not is a good idea for you depends on what you’d like to do.
If I wanted to do a scrog grow would you top?
Probably not. Just set your trellis and when first top peeks through bend it over held vertically under the trellis. The plant will think top is damaged and send lowers to replace it. Then repeat process with secondary branches and so on until your screen is full.
It’s actually a fun process to watch if you have the time to run a scrog. I don’t have the attention span for it anymore and will just run additional plants to fill canopy faster, but it’s good to see at least once.
How tall do you think I should let them get before I flip to flower?
Again,
3 gallon pots GSC and 2 Dos si dos. 6 ft. tent.
Running scrog isn’t really about plant height, you should be more concerned with filling the screen and the height of the screen should be roughly the height if the plant.
I don’t really care for this method so I don’t do it to have pictures to share or anything. Just keep the plant below your trellis until its full. From there i would prune to have the best cola directed to each square in trellis. Once the plant recovers from pruning you should see your tops starting to come through the trellis you can adjust timer to flowering schedule.
I haven’t bought a trellis yet so I’m not locked into the scrog method either way. What do you do now? You mentioned that you don’t scrog anymore.
I just grow them pretty much to their natural shape. Maybe implement some light bending of the main stem if plants try to get to tall.
makes sense. I have a baby on the way and need a relatively low maintenance grow…
Just checked on the girls. have a couple of burnt leaf tips. Going to feed straight PH’d water tomorrow then back to a light feeding on Sunday….
I have a 5 day work trip coming up on Monday so my grow will be in my wife’s hands lol. Wish me luck! ![]()

Training to a trellis is a little more work, but it’s not really that big of deal most of the time. If you keep up with it you can usually push new growth back under in a couple of minutes or less depending on size. Cleaning up canopy before flowering and harvesting are probably biggest time constraints, and you’re most likely going to do both even if you don’t run a scrog.
The idea of scrog is to create a larger than natural plant canopy to increase harvest weight. The trade off for this is time, as it takes longer to veg a plant out create a big canopy from it. It’s ideal for someone who wants to grow a lot of weed but is limited to very small plant count.
If you’re not worried about plant count then you can just grow more plants to create the same sized canopy faster. The yield potential for a given canopy size is about the same for 1, 2, 4, 10, or 20 plants if the plants are managed properly. Say you have a 3x3 grow tent and your wife says you can only grow 1 plant, then it totally makes sense to scrog. But if you can run 4 or 9 plants in the 3x3 tent they will fill it much faster and you could potentially get a third grow into a year where you may be limited to two grows a year running long veg time with a scrog. Everyone has a different scenario they are working with so one method doesn’t necessarily fit them all.
that’s a lot of good info!
thank you!
How long do you think I can go without watering before I kill my plants lol?
going away for business for 4.5 days tomorrow AM and my wife is pregnant so I don’t want her to water the plants and not be able to close the tent bank up properly.
promix grow
Your plants aren’t that big yet, so they would probably make it with just showing some droop when you return.
These are still in veg right? It wouldn’t matter if your tent was left open while you’re gone as long as they’re still in veg. But I think you would be good either way. Just give a slow complete soak of pots right before you leave.
Give them a heavy soaking to lots of runoff with regular strength feeding. The spots on leaves won’t go away but should get you back on track.
Okay! I don’t think I have enough buckets to hold water out overnight to de chlorinate it… Does adding hydrogen peroxide to water remove the chlorine? Also The root zone is already pretty soaked, should I wait for it to dry or just flush it regardless?
Adding hydrogen peroxide would kill the microbes in your soil, and you don’t want that to happen.
if I’m flushing does that even matter? I using a soilless medium. I have some worm castings and Fishshit I can add back in.
