Mold or something else?

Could use some help identifing this. I saw it this morning on an outdoor grown Jealousy plant. We’ve had no rain or high humidity.

Can you describe it a bit better? It could be some sort of mold but it looks more like something was spilled on it.

I am not at all good at diagnosing plant issues.

It looks like a severe case of white flies, but they will move around when disturbed. Do you have some rubber gloves, maybe rub some around and see if it is powdery or more of a solid feel?? It looks like snow!

They look like wooley aphids. They have a white waxy secretion covering their bodies which makes normal pesticides and insecticidal soaps not work well at all. If you can, try something stronger than a soap like Captn Jacks Dead Bug.

You can try to simply spray them off or wipe them off. Some adults have wings so they can relocate to lay their eggs making it a game of whack-a-mole so I think it’s best to try and remove them first to minimize their mobility… depend on how bad they are.

Thanks! It’s coming down tomorrow anyway. I was more concerned about some type of mold.

I was getting this on one of my tomato plants this year. I almost thought it was lint from the neighbors dryer vent outside blowing over into my plants. They didn’t look exactly clustered in one area like on your bud but mine were salted all over the leaves. I couldn’t figure it out for the life of me. But this could be it. Some type of bug.
