Mold on one bud (main cola)

After drying my plant and getting to my main cola, I saw this:

The rest of my buds look fine. Obviously, I’m not gonna smoke this one. My question is can it be used to make butter?

I personally dont screw with mold every grow i end up tossing one or two buds into the trash due to mold hopefully someone else will chime in

Honestly, and I absolutely hate saying this, it looks pretty infected, and I’d chunk imthe whole bud in your hand. Breaks my :green_heart: sorry for the loss

No worries. Still ended up with a decent haul. Lessons learned.

My second plant i bagged almost 4 oz, and lost nearly a whole zip because I bagged too early. It sucks, but health is more important. Happy growing!

Throw it out. I would periodically inspect rest of your buds too.

Thanks for the tip. I’m curing in mason jars right, so I’ll be sure to keep a close eye on the other buds. Hopefully, I don’t lose any more. Checked this morning when I burped them, and everything is looking good with my others.

That’s a bummer definitely mold , If you break it apart you will see More than just on the surface. Personally I would toss it. Good luck :v:

Yep. As I was breaking it down after drying, I noticed that mold on the inside. The pics are after I cut the bud open and saw the mold was throughout the entirety of the inside of the bud. :frowning: I tossed it and carefully checked the surrounding buds, and they all looked fine, thankfully. So, it could have certainly been worse.

How long did you dry and at what temp and rh and did you have good air circulation?

Youl learn this happens more than normal some buds just get to dam dense and it can be tricky to avoid mold some times all we can do is provide good airflow

I dried for 7 days. Temps were around 70F (may have dipped to 67 at one point), but temp remained consistent. Humidity was a bit difficult to control, it fluctuated from around 50-70 (I’d put a wet sponge in there when I saw it dropping to get it back up). I did have decent air circulation in there, but I suspect it may not have been good enough. My next grow, I’m gonna add another small fan to that closet. Right now I just had one fan - I have my filter setup where it was sucking air in through the filter and blowing out through the fan. I’ll add a small fan next time and see how it goes.

When drying you would want rh in the range of 50-55-60% and temps in the rang of 60-65-68 degrees and keep good airflow without pointing fans at bud’s. Heat and high humidity are enemies.
