MJ Seed Life Span

i did a brief google search and got some mixed results, thought id ask here for actual RL experience.

I have a pack of seeds i ordered from ILGM (WW auto). I purchased them in late 2016, but have been stored in my night stand drawer, which is always closed, in a temp controlled environment, and only removed to admire them from time to time. What are the odds they are still good togo.

sure icould find out for myself and try and germinate them, but i still need time to work out some details before beginning, a heads up would be nice

Hi there… i am also new on the forum and growing, but what i can testify to is that i have seeds in old medicine bottles, in a drawer that are 5 years + old and they still go like a :firecracker::firecracker:
Never ordered seeds through the post, so i dont know if there will be a difference in the seeds… good quality seeds stay/are good quality seeds…
Just my thoughts…
Go well nê…

I know for me I have three year old seeds I bought a mix pack refrigerate all the time. I always use a little hydro peroxide when I throw them in water before soil. They sprouted like it was just yesterday I bought them.
Also it doesn’t hurt to see if they’re going to work. I would have everything ready throw them in some 2.5 cups of water 1 teaspoon of
hydroperoxide soften shell gives it a punch.
I have a buttload of seats in a small container from weed I grow or buds I break up from somewhere. The only reason why I don’t try those seeds is male and female. I don’t want to contaminate an area of male love :two_hearts:

I figure you have a 50% chance of germinating…either they do …or they dont…

Storage conditions will make or break the viability in the long term. Under the best of circumstances they can last for many years. Seeds from several other plants have been sprouted after hundreds and a few after more than a thousand years. Those obviously were not refrigerated so its possible cannabis under the right conditions could be stored a long time.

I would definitely give them a try. I store my seeds in a frigerator and had no problem Germinating seeds 5 to 6 years old. Keep us posted let us know If they germinate. Good luck

I have a friend who stores his in the freezer and has for years and they still pop. I keep mine in a Tupperware container in the fridge.

A fellow grower on this forum germinated seeds his late father had hidden in a small tin, and he believes they were from the 80’s possibly earlier.

Keep them mostly dry, cool and pretty dark. Humidity and heat can kill your seeds before they even germ.

I appreciate the replies.

hydrogen peroxide, going to try that. when I was in the hobby 8ish years ago I haven’t heard of that method

also never thought of refrigerating the seeds either

I’ve heard stories about seeds in general reminding dormants for decades of years, so after hearing you all, I think even 50.50 is a decent chance

what an honor growing his late dad’s seeds, special. indeed

I’ll keep you all posted :raised_hands:t2::pray:t2::metal:t2:

Yeah if you store them properly, they can last indefinitely. A buddy of mine has some Ol Skool Skunk seeds from like 1986. They still pop when he germs them.

Dude… it’s been 8 years… there’s not that many details! Lol

Buy seriously they may or may not grow! Drop them and give it a shot.

4 in 1 Digital PH EC Meter LCD Tester Pocket Hydroponics Aquarium Water Test Pen | eBay thoughts on that Ph/ppm pen? or should i just get a dedicted Phand not worry about the PPM?

I like the poem. I opted for the blue labs pen cause i got tired of replacing the cheap ones.

That looks like a knockoff on the apera pc60. Whoever does buy this or use this let me know how it is. I would love to have a backup reliable knock off unit. I bet this unit is almost as good as the unit I’m using and for the price it is guaranteed to be worth.

Edit:
I have the apera 4 in 1 pen.
