So am running a rdwc hydro with 3 different plants using jacks 321. I have one plant flourishing and two with a mag deficiency. I’m stumped on what to do since my ppm is at 1200 on 500 scale and EC is at 2600, ph 5.8.
Do I need to get some calmag? I thought jacks was supposed to be enough and full proof
I’ve never grown with hydro but I’ve seen knowledgeable folks say don’t go over 1000 ppm. Everything you need is in Jack’s. You can adjust the blend to cover any deficiency. I had a calcium deficiency in one of my girls and upped the part B by 0.2 grams and she straightened out. I did this after making sure the pH of my medium was right.
Epsom salt is magnesium sulfate. If your pH is on point you should be able up the Epsom a little and correct the deficiency. Three nonsense autocorrects I had to change back. I hate phones sometimes.
Nutrients have a general direction in which you should head. Some plants demand more or less, and light intensity can also increase demand. Jacks is an all in one product and you can adjust ratios slightly to try to correct. good luck to ya.
It is not the seed it is more than likely the strain. I can grow the same strain or even clones from the same mother, and they can react differently when grown in different locations. The environment and the light source can all make a difference. Likewise different strains treated the same may not react the same.
What mix ratios are you using? The standard 3/2/1 (3.6 - 2.4 - 1.2) or what is recommended by Jacks
Part A - 3.8
Part B - 2.5
Epsom - 1.0
I am not a hydro grower. I use coco.
I have found that I have occasionally had to increase Epsom salt from 1.0g / gallon to 1.2 grams. I increase it for a couple of feeds then drop back down.
I don’t know if this would be appropriate in a DWC setup. Since the common 321 mix calls for 1.2g I co not imagine it would hurt the other plants. It also looks like Bubble Gum and AK have a few issues. Maybe @HappyHydroGrower can lend a hand.
The 1200 TDS is most likely including your water source. My tap is around 70 PPMs and really not recordable and with jacks at full strength my PPMs come out at 960-1000
Have you recently calibrated your ph pen? If not do so quickly if so then try dropping your ph from 5.8 to 5.6 some plants are finicky and that small ph change might be what they need. I recently experienced a couple plants that needed the difference
