What is the coldest plants should get during the dry down? I live in the north, and Old Man Winter is creeping our way.
Thanks!

I’ve seen no data for the coldest tolerable temp. I run my drys at ~68F. I suspect any temp that impacts the evaporation rate is intolerable.
Unfortunately figuring that out is complicated and would require a knowledge of thermodynamics. Someone with practical experience can probably help better than I can.
Temps that are too cold can make trichomes more brittle.
Thank you @MidwestGuy !!
Unfortunately i live in the south and cold weather isnt really an issue. What i do know is that below 60 and the nutrient uptake nearly comes to a standstill. As far as finishing, ive seen plants get through the second frost without issue as long as they are covered.
Thanks, @ChittyChittyBangin much appreciated!
Take a look at low and slow drying methods. Colder temps help in achieving better overall results. Plus colder temperatures help keep mold away, this is why we use refrigeration for our food, but left long enough it still dries.
Here is an article from Grove themselves. It’s been proven for many years now 60 degrees and 60%RH is IDEAL for drying.
There are benefits from cold temps and longer dries.
Yep, I’ve always dried at 60F/60RH
Ya know, i sped read that… i didnt realize you were drying… but yea 60 is optimal… i shoot for 65 to 70 days 1 through 5 and 60 to 65 days 5 through done
Im up north as well, its 20’s outside with some flurries coming tonight. My basement dry room is averaging around 55° and the buds i have drying seem to be doing good, taking a bit longer than the summer ones, but seems to be the only difference I’ve noticed so far.
Not sure. I dry as close to 60/60 as I can get it.
@DEEPDIVERDAVE — Good luck, brother!
@Autos-only — Thank you, I’m going to check this out.
