Looking for feedback for this here plant

Hey guys, I just wanted to get your feedback on my plant. Any comments or criticisms are welcome, and if something stands out to you please let me know.
2x2 tent
Started in Solo cup, now in 3 gallon fabric pot
Fox Farms Happy Frog soil amended with ~25% perlite
150w mars hydro grow light set to ~600 PPFD, 12 inches from canopy

Biscotti Mintz by Barney’s farm from seed
39 days old
Going to use Gh Flora trio, but it has only had one feeding. It has received supplemental calmag though
Occasional Recharge
Great White Myco at transplant
Latest run off measurement was 2 days ago, pH 6.5 and EC 1.5. Run off has not been checked since its first feeding two days ago
At its highest point the plant is 10 inches tall
I topped at the 5th node
76 degrees F 68% humidity.
It doesn’t have powdery mildew. If you see any white dust on the plant it is from a diatomaceous earth mishap…

This plant has given me way more trouble than my previous ones and I’m not really sure why. There was some pretty bad drooping going on for a while. General consensus was overwatering. Only reason I’m kind of bucking that explanation is that it was DRY between waterings. Like really, really dry. The drooping got worse immediately after I finally gave it water, but 2 hours later it had improved significantly. I agree that all the symptoms tracked for overwatering though. So I’m actually wondering if its possible the rootball was struggling to grow out of its original solo cup shape and therefore holding on to water. I have seen a few (not many) roots above the soil. I think they’re roots anyway - long thing brownish hairs that don’t come out of the soil when I give them a tug. I’ve been aerating with a chopstick pretty frequently and that does seem to have helped.
Its taking like 6 or 7 days to dry out between waterings. Is that weird for a plant of this size and age?

I know my environment isn’t perfect. I’m doing my very best but unfortunately, I can’t bring it inside. I’m growing inside an uninsulated shed. I’m in zone 7b and its been unseasonably cool, although I do have an ACI Thermoforge heater in there keeping it warm enough. The humidity has been an issue. It doesn’t help that I have thermo/hygrometers in there and they are all giving me different numbers. Before I started, I calibrated them with the saturated salt test and they were all really close, within a percentage or two of humidity and within 2 degrees. Now they vary as much as 10 degrees and like 15 percent from each other. I have 2 of the 3 mesh vent ports open to allow fresh air in. I will probably close them up in flower just because of light leaks. I have ducting bent into a U-shape that I’ll put in the round ports to get air in there.

You can see that a few of the leaves have holes in them. Not really sure what that’s about; no sign of bugs anywhere and I’ve checked the undersides of the leaves. It’s really just one or two leaves with holes; everything else is fine.

The leaf with the discoloration is a big ass fan leaf that is on the 2nd or 3rd node. What’s causing those brown spots? I cut off a few fans leaves last week to open up the canopy a bit - this is the last hand size one left.

I know this is a ton of information, and I’m not even certain all of it is relevant. But if you guys could take a look and tell me what you think I’d be grateful.

Those holes happen sometimes. I think it’s caused by some water droplets or sweat up top when young and first developing. Best that I can figure when it happens to mine inside. Ignore this.

The yellowing spots below are calcium canalization. You recently gave calmag, so that’s covered. Ignore a single leaf. Just keep it up on the reg.

Looking good! Those bottom leaves will shrivle up and the plant will consume the nutrients in the leaves..

Let that happen naturally? Why not clip them off?

I think she is looking good. You have a good plan going on. Keep up the great work.:victory_hand:

Yep let it happen naturally. Youre still vegging so you want as many solar panels as possible..

You can do either. I always clean up the bottom part of the plant, leaves healthy or not. Makes it easier to water with those leaves out of the way.

I cut several off because leaves were sitting on top of eachother. Really didn’t want to but felt I needed to

Is it weird that at this age the plant is taking 6 days to dry back?

No that’s plant dependent. It might not have a huge root system. Looks to be growing well so wouldn’t be concerned.

I cut a ton, lol

I know it’s tough to tell from the picture, but my newest growth looks to me like it’s tacoing. Would you agree with that assessment? Should I dial back the ppfd? This is 3 hours before lights out if that makes a difference.

They are unfolding from being new. I would like to draw attention to the bottom left fan in the above pic. Looks like it could be WPM unless you know you spilled something.

Haha luckily that’s just from when I did a crappy job of applying diatomaceous earth.
So that unfolding is normal? I’ve got my ppfd set to 600. If that’s not light stress, I’d love to be able to turn it up but I’m not confident enough in reading the plant to be able to titrate it up. I’ve heard 600 is kinda the max for veg (without co2) but with no sign of light stress doesn’t that mean I could push it?

You could up the power by 50-100 ppfd and see how she reacts. If no signs of distress, you could go up to 800 and keep an eye on her.

I have seen and used higher than stated DLI/PPFD.
250-300 for seedlings and very early veg
500-800 for veg
800-1100 for flower

Be careful using diatomaceous earth. If you inhale the dust it can scar the membranes in the lungs and cause permanent breathing issues. Always wear a dust mask when using diatomaceous earth.

Small plants in big pots in cool weather can take a week or more to dry out so 6-7 days between waterings isn’t a big issue.

The yellow in the center of the new sets of leaves is normal. Most new leaves on cannabis plants start out yellow and turn dark green after a day or two.

The holes in the leaves could be from an insect or rough handling and are nothing to worry about unless they appear more often. Then look for an insect.

Spots on leaves is lack of nutrients as others have said (calcium and magnesium). Add a small amount each week to stop it occurring.

This is probably why others thought overwatering. Too much water is an issue because it blocks roots from drawing oxygen. In this case the small root ball was transplanted to larger pot and there just wasn’t enough root mass yet to draw in all the available water in reasonable amount of time.

Once the root mass starts to fill larger pot this should no longer be an issue.

I see. That’s better than what I suspected. I’ve read that starting in a solo cup the soil can get so compacted that the roots are never able to grow out.
That said, it still doesn’t look great. The leaves have not been perky this whole grow.

I suppose that is possible, but they shouldn’t normally be in a solo cup long enough for soil compaction to be an issue. Compaction typically happens over several weeks from watering/drying process. Even then, having a good mixture of airy materials in your soil can help combat soil compaction issues. Most people mix some perlite in, but there’s lots of stuff to use.

Hmm I dunno then. It wasn’t on the cup too long I don’t think. I generally follow the rule about when the fan leaves grow past the rim. In any case, it seems much better than it was so I’ve got high hopes
