LJ’s Journal of delicious canna babies

Oh the cat tree! Yes it’s a cat tree house. I never intended it to be part of the garden but it works well. The arch I was talking about is on the other side.

For the bagseed plant I’m trying a new brand of nutrient, the same brand as the potting mix. It’s cheaper than the Aptus but I mostly like it for the convenient measuring reservoir and child proof caps. Just easier to work with.

And I’m spraying the top soil of the entire garden with peroxide and cinnamon in water to kill any fungus that might encourage gnats.

Thanks @NUG61. She’s been amazing to work with

The light is still only on 50% but should I be turning it up now?

@Mosca this baby magpie visited today. She’s part of a large family group near here. I was shocked because they don’t normally land here but the tomatoes would have caught her eye. They are extremely intelligent birds, famous for divebombing humans when protecting young. An adult male can hunt down a small rabbit.

She stayed for a few mins. I have video of her trying a raspberry but she didn’t like it although they are omnivores and eat fruit. She did a little trill as if letting me know to get something better for her :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

50-60% should be good, but increase as you go into flower. I run mine hot and just watch the top leaves to see if im hurting it.:sunglasses::v::heart:

Isn’t she fragile looking, sativa traits I think. The nodes have been way far apart from day one. She’s getting five hours of direct sun a day and I’m supplementing that with led lighting. She’s on 12/12 too now so she comes in at night for dark time. She looks quite healthy but I’ve noticed a funny leaf deformation right on top.

The leaves look similar to the ‘australian bastard’ strain that I’ve heard of here. That would make sense because this was a local seed after all.

And this maniac child. That big one back left is one of the branches to power up with the first topping.

She’s growing so fast now, probably about to really stretch. I unexpectedly had to water her last night, with plain pHed water as I had no nutrients mixed. She seemed to like the plain water.

It’s good to be able to see the soil properly again. This morning I topped her up with some amended canna terra potting mix, with Dr Greenthumbs bud n bloom dry mix and DE. I think the air circ is ok but I have ordered a larger one. I’ve been taking off the tiny leaves from below the net. She seems to be stretching a bit but I think she’s also still growing out some leaves. The light is on 75% with a couple of periods each day where I turn it up to full. I’m still not good at finding the perfect light intensity. I’ve burned every other plant so I’m cautious with this new light, but at the same time I’ve put a lot of energy into this baby and I’m not going risk it now with too little light because I think that may have been an issue in the past. All advice welcome.

I’m so blessed with this bagseed lady. She’s been very easy to grow the whole time, germinated fast, sprouted fast and she’s just happy to be alive. :sunflower: :lady_beetle: This is the ‘outdoor’ grow. It’s been raining for three days so…

…and I’m certain this little GG soil clone has rooted and is growing! :sunglasses: she’s reaching over the side there. She’s planted very close to the side of the air pot so that the roots would have max oxygen. I put the glass dome over her when it’s cooler and at night. I’ve been spraying her with whatever water is on hand.

Family snap: Big GG, her clone and a seedling from the same batch. I’ve been impressed with the way this girl grows and now I wonder if I should try to take more clones.

I’ve unsuccessfully tried cloning in water a few times now but this seemed effortless. I broke the growth shoot by accident last week of November, but it was in the ground within a few seconds. I’ll see how she responds to a new pot.

And this Mary Jane Doe is a beautiful creature too, so elegant. It will be interesting to see how this smokes because this is from the weed I buy and I don’t have a high opinion of that weed. But I’m hoping that with individual and not commercial care, and with proper drying and curing, she’ll be decent. I often find mould spots on the weed I buy, suggesting it was rushed through a process.

I recently had a GDP that grew beautifully some really small buds, very disappointing. They smoke great but really small so I’m trying to find what might have gone wrong. Is it me, or is this root ball super small? She was in a 5 gall air pot. Same care as the other plants.

The sun has made an appearance, half way thru summer thank you very much. So the rest of the garden has been productive too. As well as tomatoes we’ve now got peas, lettuce, cukes, basil, cilantro and native blueberries coming along too.

This is a dwelling at the back of the property we just bought, that I plan to turn into a grow room, so I’m gonna be on a whole new learning curve later this year. Can’t bloody wait.

Can I improve this canopy? The light is sitting at about 12 inches (thanks Nug).

You are welcome LJ… I would say only if you can move some to the side that might expose lower sites. Otherwise you are still fairly even across the canopy. if 1 or 2 start shooting up, just tie them down even with the rest. :sunglasses: :peace_symbol:  :+1:

She calls it a learning curve, just a new thumb print for her. Cant wait for that chapter,

That is a very small root ball. I seen that with my outdoors when I plant them somewhere that got too muddy. Otherwise nice grows you got, and a green thumb on ya :+1:

Thanks for that mate. I had dug up the root ball on the previous plant (far upthread), same strain, grown a few weeks apart, and it was huge and healthy looking. It might not have had enough consistency in lighting.

I downloaded a lux metre app and crikey I was shocked at the different levels on different parts of the outdoor garden. So now I’m constantly moving her around to chase the lumens. She’s getting stinky too at about 2.5 weeks into flower.

She has grown about a foot and a half in the last week.
