@Gl1tch@Lostgirl@DEEPDIVERDAVE I had two light bars, now up to 4. Def going to keep this in mind going forward.
Now I have questions on lights. These (picture below) don’t have a dimmer.
How far from the top canopy should they be? No height restriction in the garage.
Are they good lights? They are working so far.
I flipped to 12/12 today and waiting for my auto to fill out buds. My other two we will see what comes. I have changed my nutes for bud growth.
Unfortunately those lights won’t get you very far with cannabis. Cannabis is one of the most light hungry plants on the planet. More light means more yield and higher quality buds. You could flower under those but your results may not be the greatest. When you flower the light requirements go way up. The plant Is using a ton of energy, but has far less time each day to collect light and make energy. In general you need a minimum of 200w for one bigger plant or two smaller ones. More is always better. Light is usually going to be the most expensive part of your grow. Sadly good grow lights just aren’t cheap. Are they getting additional light from a window?
6400k not great because the plant only uses around 20% higher range blues like above 6000k and likes mostly “redder” sprctrum around 3000 to 4000k. A grow light will already supply more than enough of the “blue” range the plant needs. As a side note that’s why I want an Rspec grow light. Your lights would be good seedling lights
They aren’t getting much light from a window. Trying to keep it blocked from nosy neighbors.
I have been doing light research all day. Going to get a Spider Farmer SF2000 and return the light bars I have now. Good thing about returns.
So glad I found this forum to gain knowledge from. These are my first three plants. Guess I’m getting lucky with bud growth on my auto. Waiting for the other two to flip and start flowering… maybe a bit harder because of my lights huh?
SF2000 is a good place to start. Autos will just flower whenever they feel like it regardless of light or dark. Photos on the other hand require near perfect darkness for at least 10 hours a day to flower. cannabis is also very sensitive to darkness. Anything brighter than moonlight can prevent flowering. That means your probably best off blocking the window or the plants to avoid unwanted light pollution. Do you have any plans for a tent or dedicated grow room?
One of the 1st lessons in growing i learned was lights! No matter what you buy, use, try, in medium, neuts, seed bank and strain wont make any difference iif the LIGHTS aint right!! This is where it all starts. You can cut some corners and save money elsewhere but not on the lights.
Out with the old, in with the new. Lights arrived today and were installed immediately!
Auto flower buds about to get happier! Pic for attention. Auto is Santa Marta Haze.
Not completely. I’m a DIY-er so if anything I’ll build one. We are in the middle of house remodeling so the garage is a mess. This is my first grow so I’m making do with what I have now. Also not trying g to piss off the wife in the mean time.
That’s what I did. I don’t like being confined by a tent. I just noticed I don’t see a fan anywhere. Do you have a small fan to circulate air around your plants?
Would you care to elaborate?
Inquiring minds want to know.
Waiting to exhale.
Just asking for a friend.
Thanks.
Good growing to you and the new lights.
Lights… new lights!
Top picture bar lights weren’t strong enough for all phases of the grow cycle. Second picture is the new Spider Farmer SF2000 light, known for better and full spectrum light.
Looking good. As flower progresses you may want another one or two. The canopy will get pretty dense and the extra air flow will help prevent WPM and mold.
It’s just the plant showing sex… Most plants will show sex between 4 and 7 weeks. It means that the plant is mature and could be switched to flower whenever you are ready. When it is in flower the calyxes and pistils will emerge from the tips of the branches in stead of at the nodes.
Note that you don’t want the fan blowing directly on the plants so be careful with the oscillation. Just enough air flow to gently flutter the leaves. I would still recommend at least one above and one below. Especially since you have tall plants. you will probably need to do some sort of training as well. In the first few weeks of flower a plant can double or even triple in size. A lot of new growers get caught off guard by the early flower stretch. This is when the plant is at it’s most active and grows the fastest. Not in veg as a lot of new growers would assume.
