Light fluffy buds

First grow and I’m really frustrated. I feel like I followed every bit of advice perfectly. Right lighting and distance from plants, right nutrition, right length of time, right soil and temp/humidity and now I’ve harvested and have light airy buds. They’re big but no real weight. I grew until about 10% amber (indica plants) and they looked and felt nicely dense. Now they’re mostly dry and I’m not getting that dense nugget look and feel. What did I miss??? I trimmed off every leaf including those small sugar leaves. Wondering if that is part of the problem. Grew indoors with a 2000w led. So bummed. 5 plants and it looks like I’ll be lucky to get 8 ozs.

Would need to see pictures to even come close to guessing. I think if they dry too fast that will happen, and snipping off the sugar-leaves will make it dry faster.

8 ounces on your first grow is pretty good. Don’t be frustrated, your next grow will be better. Growing weed is just as much of an art as it is a science, you need to get a feel for your plants. They tell you what they need and you give it to them.

Shouldn’t effect the quality, as long as you cure it well and are patient. they may tighten up as they age.

I see little sparkly’s in them, They look tasty!

For your first grow that’s not bad at all ! I’ve had less then that several times and have been doing it for years congratulations on your harvest

Which 2000w led, and which strain?

That’s my question is what type of led, I have a 1000w and it only has 120w from wall. And the color spectrum of your light will matter too. Not what the mfg claims but your real numbers. And yes some strains just don’t get real dense

Well that’s the thing- bought bought the seeds I’m amsterdam at one of those tourist spots. It was supposed to be feminized lemon haze but it became obvious it wasn’t once I started growing. It was femeinized but no lemon smell and leaves were obviously indica. This is a pic of my grow light

Looks like that light pulls 400w at the wall. It will provide enough light for 8sq ft, or basically 2 plants in a scrog.

If you grew 5 plants of a decent size with only this light that’s a major reason for the larfy buds.

8 oz from 5 plants wouldn’t be bad. I got 14 dry out of 10 plants on my first grow and felt the same way you do. I just harvested 2 White Widow autos and got 6 oz of airy buds. They look great! Just feel light as a feather. I think my problem was temps getting a little too high at 86-87° at times @Skyblue

I think you diagnosed your own problem  Heat might make them open up to get airflow

How big was space? I would agree that fluff is usually counterpart of lighting. But I think you did pretty good for what you have.

That must be it! Putting 5 plants in a 4 by 3 by 5 tall cramped them and the temp was usually pretty hot even with a fan on. I think that solves the mystery. I’ll know better next time. Thanks!

Update- just took my first bud for a test spin. Fluffy or not, it kicked ass so I’m satusfied for a first grow. Also was able to get and additional 5 grams of hash-bonus!

I read an article that mentioned plants that were crammed together yielded less in total than fewer plants given more space. Makes sense when you think about it. That may not solve your fluffy bud issue, but it’s something to consider.

By the way, not all harvests yield beauty pageant-worthy buds. Yours actually turned out quite well for your first grow. Congrats.
