You running autos too? Yeah I honestly thought increasing was the move for the one I have but it wasnt. Luckily I kept a journal on here to be able to trace my issue back. Got up to 2.0 EC and she was like nope. Backed down to 1.8 and shes doing really well. Also wanted a pH of like 6.1 which had me scratching my head since 5.8 should be the target. Same deal with my second girl…super dark leaves early on some spotting which I posted a little above. 33% strength at 6.0 31 days later and she looks freaking perfect.
You could also run a 50/50 tap and ro. I had asked Jacks what the top end would be for starting water tds. I told them I was asking to see if I could run around a 270ppm start. Al he could say was to try it.
@TheAlchemist You can run Jacks at full strength almost instantly even with autos. I do a water for the firs 2. Then switch to Jacks full strength. It is mild enough that you will not see any issues from it. Don’t try that with GH. As you probably all ready know.
Perfect
This is 4th day of 3rd week since seedling broke the surface coco and jacks full strength since day 1 and hydrated the coco with full strength as well.
Good job!
I have used Jack’s Classic Blossom Booster 10-30-20 for a few years now. When I first started using it, I made the mistake of using it as a stand alone fertilizer for the first few grows, but it lacked enough nitrogen, so most of my fan leaves would die before harvest. So now I only use it for the first couple of feedings in flowering and then I switch to a 9-4-12 fertilizer until about week 5 and then hit it with the Blossom Booster one last time, before switching back to the 9-4-12 fertilizer. This worked out a lot better for me, but I think that I can do better, if anyone has any suggestions I’m all ears. I usually would use a peat moss and perlite mix but have recently switched to Hemp Potting Mix from the Carolina Soil Company, to give it a try. I’ve only run photoperiods, so I have no experience with auto’s.
Welcome to the community!
Try Jack’s 321 You can go seed to harvest with just that. Lots are turning to it. Easy peasy!
Welcome to the community!!! Actually it lacks calcium and your supposed to add magnesium sulfate aka epsom so that may have been part of the reason you experienced those issues along the way. I agree with spy and per the Jack’s feed schedule, you can do 321 off the jump and do the booster during transition if you want (check out their site they recommend 1-2 weeks). I just tried this (2wks) and it worked outstandingly. Not sure I’ll ever change nutes again.
Thank you for the welcome! Thanks for the input, but it’s not a calcium or magnesium deficiency, it’s nitrogen. I use to use Jack’s Blossom Booster and a calcium and magnesium supplement and nothing else during flowering and I always ended up with a nitrogen deficiency in mid to late flowering. But since I’ve switched up, as described in my last comment, I no longer have that issue and my yields have increased, but I think I could do better, so I’ll take a look into the 321 routine and see how it goes, I’m always willing to try new things if I see any merit to it’s use. And again thanks for your input.
@HappyHydroGrower , you seen that new all into one fertilizer that’s ph perfect I believe ? I’m still looking for more info to read or try maybe , supposedly replace Advance Nutrients to a one part solution, interesting but it’s bout time !
I’m considering that Jack’s to at some point and the one the guy on YouTube used for autos that yielding half of pound , I can’t call the name but I think one said iys expensive to ship to the states , been catching up with the weather setting my outdoor plots back with all this scattered storms up these parts .
Absolutely. Theres always many different experiences and the more of us the merrier. Def hold onto some booster if you still have it. Parts A and B will def address the N issues and I’m looking forward to seeing and hearing your reviews. Once again welcome!
You talking about like the Jack’s for tap and Jack’s for RO? I heard of a few people running it online with decent results. Was gonna try it but the booster seemed like more of a need and was def a worthy buy.
I didn’t know that there was one for reverse osmosis water. I use tap water with a neutral pH. Right now I’ve been using Jack’s Blossom Booster for the first couple of feedings, along with calcium and magnesium of course before switching to a 9-4-12 and then Jack’s as needed, usually around week 5 or 6 before going back to the 9-4-12 to finish it off. I’m currently growing some Northern Lights that is said to finish at 6 1/2 - 7wks, 8 at the most. I like to harvest indica’s a little on the early side so the high is a little more balanced and not too heavy. I suffer from chronic pain, PTSD and chronic fatigue, so I need relief from these issues without being so tired that I’m unable to do anything but sleep, I have stuff to do. Anyway I have included a pic of my 4 lb. tub of Jack’s.
Oops, I got side tracked and lost the point of the Northern Lights was that I’ll probably have to adjust my feeding schedule because of the short flower period, before this it was strains that usually finished in 8-10 wks. so the feeding regiment I mentioned before was for those plants, I will probably have to change it some for the Northern Lights, but I’m not sure because I’ve never grown Northern Lights before.
Yeah it’s there as a 12-4-16 but many are having success with parts A and B no matter what strain and whether auto or photoperiod. Def check it out
For the A & B. I was told be one of Jack’s reps that as long as the water ppm was 200 or lower. I should be ok. Doing a 50/50 of ro and tap still has me at 260ppm. I use the Hard water micro when using the GH nutes with the 50/50 water. I still want to try a plant with 50/50 water and Jacks. I am glad this was mentioned. I have a plant right now that I could try it with.
Keep me posted. I was gonna go it for my two coco double grapes but ima need the part A to get me through the next hydro run so I dropped the excess GH I found in the garage on them instead. I think we discussed it before and I think it will work well from start to finish.
Currently finishing my first grow in soil with ff soil/nuts. Wanting to run a dwc on my 2nd grow and considering using jacks nuts. Plan to use tap water that runs around 70 ppm. How do I know what all jacks nutrients to use?(sorry if this is a dumb question)
I guess if you were going to set up a dwc from scratch. What nuts would you go with in my situation? Thanks in advance!
If you’re running photoperiods I’d recommend the 321 setup which is Jacks Part A and Part B +epsom salts. If you’re running autoflowers imo you’re likely gonna be doing a hybrid setup which would be a bit more challenging so I’d avoid that in my exp but the growmies may feel differently and are likely running differently than me since im a glutton for experimentation.
FYI when you run Jacks for photos its a set amount of nutes from veg to harvest. And with your water tds you should be fine.
