Leaves curling on 3 week old LST'd auto

Hey folks,

So this is only my third grow and I don’t feel experienced enough at all to have anything in the way of reliable instinct (or, knowledge), so:

The leaves on this plant are curling down and I don’t know why–most extreme case is visible in the first picture, taken in front of a frosty window (better light, she doesn’t live there, FYI!).

As you can see from the hatchet LST job (pic 3), she’s been under some stress of late–but in honesty, I noticed this curl the day before I started training her (3 days ago), so I wouldn’t immediately attribute that to this… but, literally, what do I know.

Plant’s leaves look happy otherwise, most mature ones are a really nice dark (but not, I don’t think, too dark) leaves, no signs of other distress I can see: no discolouration, etc. See picture 2 of those I removed at @bboyfromwayback’s suggestion!

It’s a Royal Haze Auto on day 23 of veg, growing in substrate comprised of 8L BioBizz Light Mix, with extra 3L perlite mixed in, and about 500g vermiculite (11L total, or 3 gallon pot). I’ve been feeding her with organics for a couple of weeks, modestly I think.

Light currently supplies 28 DLI and 430 ppfd.

Any idea what is going on? My amateur inkling is this is to do with water. I’ve been doing this sparingly, I think, but I’m literally unable to decide a) IF this is a watering issue (Ph’d as close to 6.3 as I can) b) if SO, too much or too little?

Thoughts, suggestions? Gratefully received.

Looks healthy to me. With the vermiculite added you may be holding onto water too long and getting curl.

The plant looks healthy. She made be asking for more light

I agree with others and say plant looks healthy but looks like you could be overwatering

Looks ok, I would say maybe a little less watering frequency and more light. :call_me_hand:t2:

Thanks All (@Budbrother @bboyfromwayback @BudsyMalone @Truetopath @Hopalong). I’ve held back on the water, and upped the light. Leaves don’t look curly anymore… but now the very tips of newer growth on what would have been (pre LST) the central cola looking distinctly yellow now–hoping but not expecting it’s just “painted nails”). Hey, @Budbrother, you reckon only 500g (~2 cups) vermiculite is enough to make an otherwise very light and fluffy soil, augmented with perlite, so water retentive as to cause me problems? I might not use it next time!

Plant looks pretty squat. I’m working with very little space (2x2; only 4feet high) and so buy auto seeds that producers say don’t grow tall. But it looks to me like she’s already going into flower. So at just 25cm or so, I think I have a little more leeway! I think I might try a photo period plant next time, let her veg a little longer?

Yes, goin into flower. The pla t might stretch quite a bit in the next couple of weeks. Keep it stress free and if you want it to stretch as much as possible, maybe raise your light even more..?

I see nothing wrong woth the colour, dusring fast growth the new shoots are a bit lighter at first. Maybe some pai ted nails coming on too and nothing wrong with that either!

It looks small now but you light be really happy with the outcome if you just take care of her!

Looking a whole lot better. 2x2x4 are tough, that’s what I started in and about halfway through the grow went to a 2x4x6 and now a 3x3x6. Rock on :call_me_hand:t2:
