Late flower mold issues

Hi guys first time posting here. Im having some problems hopefully someone has an answer for me. Outdoor grow gorilla glue #4 late flowering around week 7-8. Having alot of problems with caterpillar’s and now mold/bud rot because of the pest. I’ve done x2 Foliar sprays with hydrogen peroxide in the last few days. Had small success but im still worried about the outcome. Any ideas much appreciated :call_me_hand: also should mention in Australia here and weather is 40° Celsius for the next 4 days

Maybe @Blackmoon can offer some advice on your troubles as he grows outside just south of you in New Zealand

Look for products containing either spinosad or BtK (Bacillus Thurengiensis). Make sure the product doesn’t contain anything else as an active ingredient.

Fabric plant protectors are a really good idea as it keeps bugs off of your plants. Mold is often caused by caterpillars burrowing into flower.

Do a selective defoliation to increase air movement through the canopy.

Hi there @Dave_94
Welcome to the forum
Thanks @Skydiver
Bud rot is evil and i get it every year to some degree.
One year i got it really bad had to chuck loads of my harvest.
I have used h2o2 first cut out the rot and painted it on around the infected areas stopped the spread a little but vey time consuming.
What blows me away is the time of year and temperature you got.
What part of Australia are you in?
Im on south island of new zealand but was born in Adelaide
Came over here for a 2 month holiday never went back in 1989.
I get the bud rot when the weather cools down or is really humid.
And the best thing i can do is to bring my plants in under cover at about the stage of flowering your in now.
I think thats the best option ( prevention )
Sometimes its caused by the catapillars and and sometimes not.
Have you got any pictures :camera_flash:
And usually it attacks the best colas too.
It does spread once you get it spores drift.
Cutting it out claim anything thats not affected
But dont smoke any thats iffy
At 7 weeks your gunna get a high from your flower just not as good as one would wish for.
About all i got to share im
Sure some other growers will chime in
Sorry to here your news.
Gorilla glue one of my favorites first ilgm strains i grew
Stay in touch let us know how you get on
Cheers :beers:  :v:

Thanks @Blackmoon. Im in mildura Victoria. Very dry heat in summer here, also strange this happened to me 2 years ago with the exact same strain same thing with the mold a caterpillars, only was in the last few days before harvest. And now happening again, only two weeks roughly away from harvest and i really want to get the best quality i can. Really dont want to pull early if i can help it. Plants are in the ground so cant be moved. Was thinking monitor over next week. Ill look for some products that @Myfriendis410 told me to use. Also at harvest ill be doing a bud wash with peroxide again just to clean again

Your welcome @Dave_94
Yep i know Mildura
Doesn’t the Murray river run through Mildura
Ive had bud rot on nearly every strain ive grown to varying degrees
Its interesting that you have a dry hot climate and still getting the rot.
I wonder what moth or butterfly lays its eggs in the flower ?
Its tricky cause you dont really want to be spraying your flowers in harvest window with anything toxic either i guess.
Ive only ever found 1 catapillar in my colas and it was green.
I think there is different ways and types of the dreaded rot
Think mines more from moist cool air conditions always seems to be the top cola that cops it the worst sadly.
Have you grown other strains in the same year that your gorilla glue gets attacked and they been ok ?
That would be revealing if you did have other strains in the same area and it was only gorilla glue that got affected.
I really dont know any more
If left it will spread.
Sometimes ive had to sacrifice whole colas to save whats left of the plants flowers.
Too late now i guess the damage been done but maybe some of those yellow sticky garden bug catching strips could be of some use.
But if you got the rot now the culprit already gone left you eggs.
Keep looking over the buds keeping a sharp eye for small dead leafs sticking out of the cola thats sometimes a sign you got rot deeper inside the flower.
If you catch it soon enough you can cut it out paint h2o2 on the area
But the colas never looks the same with a big chunk gone and dried off round the edges
Real sorry you got this issue
Cheers :beers:
