Late blooming autoflower?

2nd grow in a small tent (2x2x4), hydroponic in an AeroGarden farm XL, 2 gallon capacity, general hydroponics nutrients, started on an aggressive feeding schedule now eased off to moderate. RH at 45%, temps 72-78 F.

Apple Fritter auto from ILGM

So my plant has been growing strong, too strong actually since I deliberately chose this strain for its small height (due to limitations in my setup). I topped it early (once 6th node sprouted). I am currently on day 73 and still not seeing much in terms of bud development. It’s had the staggered nodes for quite some time and I’ve been trying to be patient but it feels like the buds are just taking forever to really develop (I’ve seen pistils for a while as well). I started with a 20/4 light cycle, decreased to 18/6 a few days ago.

Any tips on how to get them going?

Would also appreciate tips for my next grow. Did I screw up flowering by topping the plant? Too aggressive nutrient/light schedule is surely contributing to outgrowing the tent. Other tips for hydro grows of autos in small spaces?

If you’re running out of room, flip it to 12/12 and force her into flower.

Flipping to 12/12 will not Force an auto flower to flower.

Whoever told you patience would fix this is absolutely 100% correct. Autoflowers do what they want when they want.

I do feel your pain. I’m going through the same thing. I have a green crack autoflower that didn’t even show a single pistol for 15 weeks. Yes, she spent 11 full weeks in vegetation stage and finally one day (day one of week 12 in veg) she started to flower.

I tried everything threats of violence, flipping 12/12 and nothing worked.

My best suggestion is relax you’re doing nothing wrong and just be patient

Any tips for nutrient schedule when this happens? I’m running into the end of the general hydro nutrient schedule, just keep repeating the mid/late bloom ratios? Not sure if your grow is hydro sorry

Late flowering I would think is irrelevant to the type of medium you use or the fact that you’re growing hydroponically. Autoflowers can be stubborn. And that’s what you have a stubborn autoflower.

As far as a feeding schedule with hydroponics I unfortunately have zero experience in hydroponics. I’m sure someone will chime in that does

She looks healthy, i wouldn’t change anything nutrient wise yet. You can search this forum and forcing auto to flower, there are a lot of posts on how to do it. Some recommened a day or 2 in darkness than a 12/12 cycle. I had one that wouldnt flower so just put it in my photo tent and it went into flower

Yes I read some and there seemed to be disagreement on it haha, will try it out for a day in darkness just to see, not like it can grow any taller anyway haha (not sure if it’s clear in pics but tops are pressing into the light

Lol oh she’s still gonna grow

Is this the only light you use in your tent?

No, it’s an extra light, you can barely see the LED up top because the top of the plant is growing into it

LOL I’m glad you said no. That would have definitely been your problem :scream:

Sounds like a misfire. Grab some clones and flip are my thoughts.

I thought you couldn’t clone autos?

If that little light did that I need 10  @Lostgirl

When they misfire they are no longer auto. I had a gg4 misfire i cloned 2 years.

A typical auto will flower around 6 weeks above ground, are you sure this is not a photo period plant? Flip the light to 12/12, this plant is old enough to be sexual mature and should show signs of preflower in 7-10 days :love_you_gesture:

If your plants are getting into your light you can gently pull them over and tie them down. I agree autos do what they want because that’s what I grow. I’m also growing hydroponic. There is a-lot of debate on growing problems growers have. Things that work for me may not work for others, just to many variables I think. Sometimes things happen by coincidence and we think something we did caused it. Let her grow, and I would continue to follow the nutrients plan at the end just continue on. You can adjust if you see signs of nutrients burn.

Not sure if you can tell from pics, but yes there are signs of pre flower (and have been for a while), it just seems like those pistils aren’t growing out into thicker buds, but I’m just trying to be patient for now and see what happens.

I couldn’t see pre-flower signs from the pics, you may be seeing signs of sexual maturity?? If so I think this is a photo period plant or a super stubborn auto. The change in light schedule to 12/12 would initiate flower :love_you_gesture:

This is my 2nd grow so maybe I just don’t know the difference between the two, but it was my understanding these white growths were pistils (or pre buds) and the new nodes growing staggered (as opposed to symmetrical) meant it was pre flower/transition to bloom, is that wrong? Still learning some basics here, chose autos for the simplicity, not exactly sure what sexual maturity denotes other than being able to tell if it’s male or female
