Ok… Just turned the lights off on Shirley. She was my fourth LSD auto who after 13 weeks, is still only 5" tall. But she’s done, mostly cloudy trichomes with a few ambers. And even if she isn’t, I am. I give. I suck at this. Out of four attempts, one died completely…i got about 2 grams out of Priscilla, and even less from Laverne… All were really airy and light. The buzz was really nice although it doesn’t last very long.
I still have 16 LSD autos, I plan to start 3 next week… Gotta get their dirt “cooking” with the earth dust after I get Shirley out of the tent tomorrow.
My question is about the lighting.
I have this light VIPARSPECTRA Latest XS2000 LED Grow Light with Samsung LM301B Diodes & MeanWell Driver, 4x2 ft Coverage Dimmable Full Spectrum Grow Light for Indoor Plants Veg and Bloom Hydroponic Growing Lamps Amazon.com as my main source of light. And then I have this for the flowering stage Grow Light for Indoor Plants, LED Growing Lamp with Remote Controll, Plant Lights with Auto On/Off 4/8/12H Timer 10 Dimmable Brightness (Clip Style) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B088WWYQ2B/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_ACSAN9H1AKF7YXGDT9YD?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Are they enough for 3 plants in my 2’x4’x5’ tent?
I may even throw a few outside to see what happens. Obviously I can’t grow sh!t indoors lol. And I don’t really want to invest anymore money in an indoor grow if this is the last time I’m going to use it.
So should I stick with two or try growing three with this lighting that I have? I’m so danged depressed
Have you only tried with autoflowers?
Yes…lsd autos only so far… Nothing has made it past 5"… It’s craziness
Just gotta be patient with yourself, my friend
I suggest taking a big step back and evaluating what happened in the last grow. Are your parameters within the range(s) that cannabis is comfortable in? (This is a broad range, but I have had success between 65-85°F and 30-60% humidity)
What are your watering practices?
Do you measure your water? (How much, how often, the PPMs, the pH?). If so, with what? And how often?
I believe LSD is notoriously small (as in short in height). I would focus more on what you can do to train them outward instead of upward. Some gentle LST - use a string or flexible wire to pull the stalk sideways as she’s growing, and pull her more in opposite directions so she’s spread like a starfish as she grows.
I know you’re frustrated - soil was incredibly maddening for me. Autoflowers exacerbated that frustration. I know you and @Fiz know eachother - perhaps she would spare a photoperiod seed for you
I believe the light you have will do okay for a couple of plants. It would be even better on one well-trained photoperiod. But that’s just my 2 cents. Happy growing, and absolutely reach out, we’re always down to help.
That particular strain or generics could be the issue. Autoflowers are a little weird to start with. I’m not familiar with that stain. Try out a couple of photoperiods and see what you end up with.
I agree with @Graysin
Don’t bet yourself up over indoor grows.
The best knowledge I can give is research the strain. Search on here of what you plan to grow, there are many diaries, and read what they used as a medium, nutes, and so forth
You will be surprised at what an indoor grow can produce
This is probably just one of those cry for help type of things
Don’t give up! If you’re looking for a way to change your grow, we’re your Tyler Durden.
Oh I have to say, ALL of you guys have been super helpful. And I’ve done a LOT of reading, here and other sites as well… I’m leaning towards the fact that I may have let it get too warm in there for a little too long… And my humidity got high for a while too… It’s hard to keep things stable when it’s 75° outside all day and then by 6 pm it’s snowing… We’ve had crazy weather and my thermostat had to go up down up down up down… And the humidity has done the same… So… My husband may kill me… But I may have to buy some more toys… Which would mean I can’t give up… Right?
I don’t want to give up …I friggin hate failing… And I hate giving up even more… We’ll see how I feel later today… Oh … And did I mention a wench with crappy insurance tboned me in my beloved purple Mercedes and I also need to replace my car… And re-injured my c7 spinal fracture and injured my shoulder and can’t work… It’s been a wonderful year so far lol …I NEED WEED lol
Exactly.
Don’t give up. I’m being sincere when I suggest running a photoperiod seed. A photoperiod plant will be more forgiving if your temps fall outside of comfortable parameters. Hot/cold stress won’t make a photoperiod flower, but consistent extreme temperature swings may be stressful enough to cause an autoflower to flower prematurely. The only thing that’ll make a photo go into flower is changing her light cycle. I find that to be much more comfort to me than having ideal conditions across the board. I simply can’t. My time is too limited to manage a perfect, consistent environment. So I grow photos and somewhat stunted autos. on purpose.
We can get you there. Sorry to hear about the car wreck and injury. Glad you’re still here to be needing the weed, though!
Do you, by chance, have nursery bags?
Like this:
That’s where I’d be starting an autoflower. Then the moment you see a tap root poking out the bottom, bam. Into her final pot (highly recommend a 5 gallon pot).
I agree there. The ability to stay in veg…revert to veg and just plain have time to fix stuff is great for new grower struggling. If you can keep it alive you can dial it in. Dont give up yet. First super chop and your a lifer.
I’m afraid I may already be a life lol…
I’ve just been using Dixie cups to 3 ga. smart pots thus far. But I’ll check those out as well. I’ve been reading reading reading and taking some serious notes.
And I will stick a couple or three more autos in but I’ll probably order a few photos just to see what they get me after these next autos… You know… This stuff is all for personal use… My husband doesn’t even smoke lol… But these little bitty effers just ain’t gonna cut it lol
Heck Laverne dried up real nice for me while she was still in the ground… All my girls would’ve been lost in a 5 gallon pot lmao
It’s also good to start autos in their forever pot. You never know when they’ll switch to flower. Transplanting them could cause issues if there isn’t enough time for them to recover before switching. The same goes for topping them as well. I may have misunderstood you saying Dixie cup… leads me to think you transplant them from Dixie cups to 3 gallon pots.
This is exactly why I recommend using the fabric nursery bags. It eliminates transplant shock entirely. I’m not a huge fan of starting anything in it’s forever home. The root structure is so undeveloped that the risk of dampening off (killing it by overwatering) is huge. Larger pots take much longer to grow and the first mistake almost every new grower makes is overwatering.
Overwatering also comes in many forms
- Too much water all at once
- Too frequent of waterings (generally still too much)
- Using a spray bottle to mist the top soil periodically, either daily or multiple times a day.
Not allowing the growing medium to dry out almost completely between waterings is the best way to kill or stunt something’s growth. By starting off in a nursery bag, you have small containers with breathable exteriors so it will dry out more uniformly and allow you to water once every 1-2 days depending on your environment and plant without being almost certain to drown it.
Hey dont give on growing you just need to re think things and step back and have alook at what you have been doing you may find whats causing this upset with ur grows .i would get ur soil cooking now to have it ready for ur next grow .you obviously dont have any trouble germinating seeds which is good now do you put ur seeds in to solo cups after they have popped if do u mix worm castings in ur soil that you use in the solo cups and do u mix worm castings in ur soil for ur pots and if u can add live worms to ur soil in ur pots they will help break down the organic fertilizers in ur soil and they will supply fresh worm castings to ur plants .ok now for RH in seedling stage keep ur rh at 70-80% and for veg stage you ur rh around 60-70% and flowering for the first part of flowering ur rh ahould be around 50-60% and later in flower ur rh should drop down to 40-45 % and make sure ur temps are around 75-82 Fahrenheit and lower in late flower it should be around 18-22 degrees Celsius make sure u have plenty of air flow have two to three fans going in ir tent and only start two or three plants this way its not to much to look after and less stress i hope this helps you in some way but dont give up its so relaxing once u get the hang of it and its good to enjoy ur growing and enjoy the flower you grow
Where abouts are u from. I can make u a seed care package. It’ll be photo type or fem photo type seeds but it’ll give u a nice start. On something not auto. I’d suggest get 5 gallon pots also 3 gallon give me baby plants here also I don’t care what I do to them 1 foot tall and like 2 oz or so. I do 5 and 7 gallon here and pull 3 to 6 on autos and most photos I get a lb or more per plant. If smaller like last clones I did I had 4 plants got a slight over lb and a half of cheese
Good morning duhneese! Please don’t beat yourself up over the size of your plants. Reminder: of 5 LSD seeds I grew, I got two “normal” sized plants - ones that produce more than a bowl’s worth. You have literally have been unlucky with the seeds you used and got all shrimps.
My second good one - Claudette from this grow - is a whopping 14 inches tall, and she’s done gaining height it looks like. She didn’t even make Lucy’s 19. Now, this time I did train her so I have more than one top. Yield will likely be the same or a little bit less - around 2 oz.
I have also made the move to 3 gallon pots. (Though Claudette is in a 5 gal P4P - her shrimpy seed sister Audrey is in a 2 gallon P4P.) The rest are all in coco with Grow Dots.
Since we know these are likely to stay small - if you have them, I’d use 3 gallon pots. I don’t know if you added Mykos to your soil and planting hole but I’m really at the point where I’m convinced that the various microbes are a really important factor.
I can tell you this - Claudette LOVES Grow Dots. I burnt Lucy’s leaf tips with “other” nutes, but she hasn’t shown one non-green leaf since she started. A trial size bag of Dots is $8 on Amazon, and they also sell a set of 5 Recharge tubes for the same $8.
Here’s Claudette. She’s 44 days old today.
When I look at the pictures of your babies, honestly they are very pretty. Just TINY.
Are you checking DLI? And it sounds as if you want to buy a humidifier. I need to use them too because house RH has been like 20% all winter. If you do, make sure you get one with a hygrometer so it will turn off once the target humidity is met.
Why not let @Mark0427 send you the care package? I really do think the problems you are having are a bit less “you” and a bit more “LSD weirdness”, and unfortunate luck of the draw from the seed bag.
I love the smoke, don’t get me wrong, but I’m not going to buy more LSD autos. I MIGHT try their photos in the future.
Just got to give you a shout out for your kind and generous offer. I really hope we can get @duhneese going - such bad luck for her grows so far!
You’ve gotten tons of great advice here! I would highly recommend trying photoperiod seeds. I personally feel like autos are actually a more advanced growing method since they can be so temperamental.
Other things to consider:
Are you checking pH of feeding solution? What nutrients are you giving? How often are you feeding? Checking EC of feeding solution? How much airflow do the plants get?
Also keep in mind, outdoors has a whole different list of issues. If you said it’s snowing in your area, don’t bother. You’ll also have to deal with bugs, weather (bud can rot), and nosey neighbors.
Often forum mumbers ask that people looking for help fill out this:
Answer these simple questions the best you can.
If you do not know, or do not use something; Just say so; Or post

It will give us a better picture of what your grow environment is like, and how you go about caring for the plant.
@Fiz btw, you’re not supposed to leave those soil meters in the soil
Yeah, I know, I take them in and out. First time I did it with one in a houseplant, hubby said I was killing the batteries.
Uh wat?
