Last ditch effort…please help. Newbie is very out of his element

Hey, just chiming back for a few questions.

Think you could point me in the direction of better Nutes? I know you had mentioned Jacks is popular throughout the forum , so I wanted to make sure I get the right kind / strength.

Also, this is a two parter…
Could I add lights up the side of the tent to up the wattage that my plants are recieving , OR should I just get a better light overall. And if i should get the better light, could you point me in the direction?

Preparing for new grow, If I were to need to restart.

I appreciate it ! :metal:t4:

This is the way I would go. The light you have is okay for sprouting seeds and vegging clones but I wouldn’t go much longer than that with it.

I highly recommend HLG (horticulture lighting group) or Kingbrite lights. Remind me how much space you’re dealing with? I can give a solid rec for both brands that way.

I’d go for better light
I got jacks through Amazon and it was a bit pricey compared to what I guess you can order directly from them somebody here has said

All that stuff Graysin said too

Oh and if you decide to get Jacks, you’ll need a decent scale

Here’s one that’s popular around here

Sorry, I’m just waking up and I’m too lazy to scroll up to see the size of your tent…. So that being said…… what size is your tent? And what’s your budget?

Also, what is the size of your exhaust fan?

I don’t think it was ever disclosed. I too am too lazy but I ended up looking anyway

Tent is a 3 x 3
One of these fans going in and out, with a small clip on fan inside as well

A 3 x 3 tent

Or 2x

It would be massive overkill to have 2x 240w but in the best way.

I haven’t read every word of this post so sorry if I am repeating. For determining how high to hang your lights it is best to use a meter. You probably don’t need to buy one unless you are a pro. All cameras have a light meter and almost all phones have cameras. There are many apps that allow you to make use of the meter. I use the Photone app because they at least profess to know the difference between a photo and a plant light meter. Just for reference sunlight at midday is 120,000 lux or about 12000 foot candles. Your little light at 18” may be only a couple of thousand lux. At 2” the could easily be 120K

Ok we’ll stick with LED.

3x3 is a great size. I just pulled 1.3lbs out of one.

AC Infinity is coming out with a great light for a 3x3. I would definitely look at that if it’s available.

Now, take my opinion with a grain of salt because I’m totally biased on lighting. I am a huge fan of Horticulture Lighting Group (HLG).

For a 3x3 you can get a refurbished 300L RSpec for $329, you can get the price under 300 is you use the code “dude”. Or if your a veteran or know a vet that will order for you, you can get 20% off …. That would get the price to $263. That’s a steal.

The AC Infinity

The HLG

Thank you both for these recommendations!! I will look into these after work and look to get a new light ASAP! :+1:t4::+1:t4:

That hlg300L refurb is a very good deal

I had a total of 400w of HLG light in my 3x3 just now when I pulled 20.9 ounces. A 300L could get you real close to a pound once you have your grow dialed in.

Dang come over and manage my grow for me! :grinning:

I’m in awe of myself. I can’t believe I just did that.

Also, I just harvested a blueberry muffin (4oz)

And I have an OG Kush drying that will also be close to 4

Went ahead and ordered myself the refurbed 300L RSpec, hydroguard, and a whole round of Jacks nutes.

Getting prepared to restart from scratch, hopefully will a little better of a start this time around!

Any chance you could show me a good feeding schedule for the jacks nutes ? I ordered everything you linked me, as well as some hydro guard.

That’s the beauty of jacks
The feeding schedule
Part A…… 3.4 grams
Part B……2.6 grams (I think)
Epsom salt… 1.2 grams
Per gallon of water

You want to dissolve part a and epsom salt together fully then add the part B and let dissolve completely

I was going to confirm these numbers but can’t find the thing so if someone else can get the for sure schedule and not a ballpark schedule

I just go with the “ounce” numbers on the back of the package. I mix one gallon of nute concentrate and dilute my RO with that.
