Lady bugs vs Spider mites

I dont have a spider mite problem but i was doing some reading today on pests and came across an article about lady bugs, ladybeetles, and lady bird bugs taking care of them. I was wondering has anyone ever used them?

There was someone on here that used ladybugs. Use the search tool, upper right corner. The one I’m thinking of specific was early this year! @PotBuds14

I had a few lady bugs in my tent and they were ripping up the fungus gnats! Definitely good to have. I just read during flowering they can die in the buds and the buds will grow over the corpse. I would say it’s worth the risk if not for commercial. In my opinion they are very good to have and can prevent or cure a infestation if used correctly. Plus they are good luck. Lol You have to make there home in your grow space. The baby ladybugs can eat 50 or more aphids/mites a day. I did a lot of research on this. I made a post on it too when I first found one in my tent if you want to check it out here is the link Ladybug in tent with flowering plant

People usually buy 100 or more at a nursery and they work great but they do fly out into your house and get sicked up by the fan. They work a lot better in a greenhouse. I grow outside and there are enough around they come naturally and I have no pests at all, between the ladybugs, spiders, and frogs.

Lady bugs will kill lots of bad pests the only problem with them is this when there’s nothing left to eat the will want to leave ? You could end up with them all over the house other than that :+1:
I’m actually thinking about get praying mantis for my property to help control my outdoor pests
Not sure I would related them indoors but both are great way to naturally control unwanted pests
Good luck @PotBuds14

Haha yea we have them here to ive seen quite a few this year more so than years past. Lol next thing you know youll be breeding praying mantis’ :v:t2:

I did that when I was a kid. I kept a few in my bedroom windows between the glass louvers and the screen. I would open the windows a bit to shoo flies in there for them. Anyway, one of them made a big egg case and after she died, it hatched. Dozens and dozens of tiny preying mantises!

I took off the screen to let them run free in the backyard. Pot them on my black raspberries.
