Hey all, as the title states, I just bought and received a 3 in 1 device to do the decarb process, it can make oils and tictures, and also can mix to make gummies. This seems to be the next natural progression in my learning adventures, now that I’m getting better at my grows of the plants themselves. As stated before, I don’t smoke that much anymore, just a little bit now. However, the wifey and I both do 10mg of sleep gummies every night. Very helpful to get back to sleep after getting up for a restroom break in the middle of the night. It used to take anywhere from 30-90 minutes to get back to sleep, but now it takes 2-5 minutes and solidly back out. Super excited to try this. I have about 3oz of trimmings from last years harvest in the freezer ready to experiment with. The machine says it can hold 1.5oz at a time, so with typical marketing BS exaggeration, I figure it probably holds an 1oz at a time to work properly.
For those of you that have done this or are currently using something like the Magical Butter Machine, what’s your best tip or resources that you can point me to?
Full disclosure, I did not buy the MBM. Not at $500 to just try out the process. I have no problem buying one down the road if it seems to work well for me. But as an experiment, not going to spend that kind of money up front unless it really makes sense. Labor Day sale, $125.
I bought my MBM years ago. It came in a kit with the decarb box and a bunch of different tray molds for less than $200. I had no idea it went up so much over the years, no way I’d buy one now at that price. I use mine maybe twice a year.
Test your oven temperature prior to decarbing so you don’t turn it into CBD. At my old house, the oven temperature measured 290 when the dial was set at 250. My current house it’s 310 at 250.
Thanks for the reply. I’m definitely big on being sure about oven temperatures. However, before buying this new machine which is supposed to do a built in decarb, I always used my outdoor electric smoker for my decarb stuff. It’s outside, doesn’t smell up the house or make it hot, and I can program the temps to hold where I need them. I also use a bluetooth thermometer with 4 inputs and test leads so I have 1 on each rack area with alarms for over/under. I’m hoping this new machine eliminates that step for me.
I use an Ecru machine. My girlfriend doesn’t like gummies, so I infuse into coconut oil and mix in dark chocolate. I bought a mold off Amazon and use 1/2 cup infused oil to a 10 Oz package of chocolate chips. Helps us sleep and eases the aches and pains of getting older.
