Journal 4: More Light

An inch is good and will naturally get shorter node spacing with indicas, a bit more node spacing with hybrids and way more node spacing with sativas generally. So can’t really get 1" node distances with a naturally tall stretchy sativa (like my Blue Dreams).

@Hellraiser Yeah my cookie haze has more than an inch in between each node now. Its already getting taller than the rest and was planted almost a week later

Thanks a lot for getting back to me

I tried to aim for 1/2 inch but some sativas don’t care.
Keep your reds off if you can until after the stretch.

One month into vegging.

Been feeding them everyday:
5.8-6.0 pH
850-900 ppm

Environment:
25-27c
50-60%

The Expert Gorilla in the back right reminds of the Sunset Sherbet in my last grow which I don’t like. I ended up chucking the SS come harvest as it really wasnt worth trimming. No need to waste light, space, and nutrients so I’ll be moving forward with three.

They also got their weekly dose of recharge.

So this just came in! How much do you recommend I use per gallon?
@Nicky @Not2SureYet

i thought that was for adding to soil ? dont say on the back? how to use it .if not better go to there web sight and find out for sure .
:alien: happy growing
and dont breath any of it

Nope this is potassium silicate that gets added to your nutrient mix first thing before adding any other nutrients. It does say 2.5-5g per gal that’s why I wanted to get a fixed number from those who use it but thanks for your input.

@Nicky @Not2SureYet I was also curious, after adding agsil 16h, what do you guys pH your mix at before adding your Jacks? Again, I can only see a range from 6.0-6.5 but wanted to get a fixed number from you

I haven’t opened mine yet. I will move it to the grow room to use with my next rez fill. It looks like 1.5g per gallon from what I am finding

0.7grams per gallon = near 100 ppm of silica and that’s what you want. 100 ppm boost basically.

That’s what KIS organics website says (0.7g per gallon) but yeah you can check it by taking ppm before and after.

@Not2SureYet @Not2SureYet Thanks for getting back to me guys

Would you pH it to 6.0 before adding Jacks?

No Jack’s is going to help lower the PH so just ph to 7 @ashhhh sorry for the late reply got lost in my notifications.

@Nicky All good my friend!

Thanks again!

So 1.2 grams of agsil 16h per gallon gives me 100 ppm boost.

I mixed 4.8g with 4 gallons of water. pH is at 10. Added a bunch of pH down, but my pH is not changing at all! I’m trying to bring it down to 6.5 so I can add jacks but no luck?

Any tips?

Silica does that. I frankly would dilute that by 50% and stay with that unless you see issues. That would make it much easier to PH to 6.5 (I’m assuming you are worried about solubility of the Part A in alkaline solution)

So the reason why I’m trying to lower pH is so that silica doesnt lock out other ions and be able to mix my jacks after

So you recommend just lower dosage to 0.8 grams per gallon and I don’t have to reach 100 ppm boost for silica alone?

What PH down are you using?

If your not using AN that might be the issue need the good stuff lol.

Use 0.7g for now.
I never checked my ppm but I’ll try your 1.4g when I mix my next back next weekend

K so I’m. Looking back, KIS changed their website they used to say use 0.7g for 97ppm
Now they say
“560 grams of Agsil 16 in 1 gallon will give you 7.6% silicon (SiO2)”

Found another reliable source that used to say with KIS said as well

"0.7 grams in one gallon of water yeilds 98ppm SiO2 or 46ppm Si, and 49ppm K " - custom hydro nutrients.

That goes with this
