Jacks 321, finisher & bloom thoughts

Hey everyone, running jacks 321 this go 'round and so far it’s working pretty good. Giving A, B and Magnesium Sulfate. Also running some aminos, silica and molasses. Give them some micros like once a month too, they seem to dig it lol.

So I inched up my recipe til I got very slight burns then pulled back a hair and been doing good. I don’t know how much I trust my ppm meter but read 1392 when I checked the mix today. At a ph of 6.1 from an instrument I trust much more.

Just including this info to give insight into the plants’ current situation so y’all aren’t answering blind.

I switched to flower 3 days ago. (Already see changes too) Was looking at what else Jacks gave me in my bucket of fun. Found Bloom and Finish. (And clone, but I reckon that’s for clones and babies)

I gather finish is for the last few weeks of flower so that’s legit. Might do that just to save on the others for the next round.

Bloom though, has me thinking. From what I was able to find on the forum it’s a booster, most useful during transition?

They’re in transition for another week and a half - 2 weeks I’d suppose so I’m interested.

My question then, is do I scale back A and B to make room? Do I cut out the full N one instead?(B I think)

Also going forward, after transition, should I cut back or cut out all that nitrogen? I had a chart I worked off successfully so far but was surprised to see it remained consistent until harvest.

Whereas I know they need less N in flower, I don’t want to disrupt their food’s balance on a whim. Particularly because I don’t know exactly what all is in each component. Just that they like it and don’t seem to mind me throwing in other stuff when I feel like it. :joy:

Any other thoughts or even additions to feeding is welcome! Aminos and Molasses can be alternated with other stuff if it seems worthwhile to do that. I know they won’t suffer for it as I didn’t use either at all last grow. Not sure that would open enough ppm for Bloom though.

I run jacks and add silica, this may help.

That chart does confirm some suspicions. The high N still feels a little weird but if it works, it works I guess. Thanks for sharing!

Sure thing! Happy growing! My plants have loved Jacks.

She’s looking beautiful so far, keep up the good work!

Mine are getting a transitional glow at the tops.

Check your lighting intensity Grow Bro, looks like some bleaching is going on. I’ve ran Jacks Bloom and finish and honestly didn’t see a difference. The 5/12/26 is perfectly balanced from start to finish :love_you_gesture:

We have a saying in here ‘Pics or it didn’t happen’ lol

Hate that saying!

There’s a reason for it.

what might the reason be

If that “transitional glow” gets any lighter, might want to give them a shot of iron…….

I’ll keep an eye on them. It’s probably the lights. Moved them up some and turned them up when I switched the lighting schedule. Probably too much at once. I scaled them back a little. Will tweak them back more if it gets worse.

I like to imagine it’s just the reflection of an idea light bulb over their heads. Things got darker so they scheming on how they gonna get that flower action on.

Thanks for the observations! Always happy to hear y’all’s thoughts.

The final npk ratio of 321 recipe is something like 3-1-4, isn’t really that high in nitrogen in comparison to ratio of other macros or standard/typical fertilizer blends. When you look around at different recipes that people seem to have success with they’re not making large reductions in the calcium nitrate. Additionally, the drive for nitrogen drops off throughout the flower cycle by doesn’t completely go away, and since the calcium nitrate is also the main source of calcium you have to keep in mind the demand for this usually peaks around weeks 5-6 of flower. So just be careful if you plan on tweaking the recipe and do it in small increments.

Great info, thank you.

It’s a bit surprising that there isn’t that much. I haven’t seen any major deficiencies but you’d think they’d want more nitrogen mid way through vegging. If it’s low enough to be fine in flower.

I’ll probably just follow standard practice since this my first run with Jacks but I appreciate the info. I know I’ll want to try different things in future grows so the more I know about the nutrient composition the better.

For instance, I’d assume since it’s also a calcium source I’d want to go lighter on the magnesium sulfate if I cut back on it at all.

There is a lot of variables to consider but this is mostly perception of the individual. If you were growing in something like coco or hydroponics and started feeding 0 ppm of nitrogen on flip to 12/12 your plants would most likely be dead or close to it within a couple of weeks. Nitrogen demand is still high through transition and tapers off but doesn’t really go away.

Even going back to your first post asking about things like molasses and aminos, you don’t need any of this to be successful. There are some things that can improve your experience when used properly but none of them will make or break your grow. Under normal conditions the hydroponic blend, calcium nitrate, and epsom salt will cover all of your plants needs.

Pics are worth a 1000 words in here. 10 guys describe the exact same situation but lack the articulation skills to explain it in a way that the rest of us can comprehend clearly so then they just get back a confusing range of diagnosis with the replies so that they still have no answer.

But then once we get a few pics of the plant(s) the experienced growers trying to help can use their own eyes to better diagnose the overall situation based on their own personal experience.

Try contributing and paying it forward to all those that guided you and you’ll quickly recognize how hard it can be to assist the growmies.

In life, that is true, too.

Here’s an updated pic of the glowing lady from earlier, in case anyone was concerned. It was the light intensity. I dragged my feet on this bit, was back to normal look in like 2 days. Front one’s Royal Gorilla and Mother Gorilla in the back.

Thanks again for info and thoughts!
