I totally agree with Myfriendis410. Some soils are specifically blended for certain purposes. When I was younger, before growing weed I used to swear by anything that was miracle grow. It produced bigger tomatoes, carrots etc., etc. I looked at growing weed in it at one time and was told because of the makeup of Miracle Grow soil it might be OK for pot sprouts but not for a full veging plants. A couple people touched on this point so I stayed away from miracle grow. I did my first 5 grows with FF Ocean Forrest, and had some great results. My latest grow I’m trying the Happy Frog. Cross your fingers.
Good luck… I use Ff nutes currently… I had bought bulk large sizes at the beginning of the pandemic. Trying to get through it… The going to try jacks nutes… @Hellraiser had a few threads with it… Seems easier. Also thought of trying advanced nutes… pH perfect stuff… Would be nice to not worry so much about pH… It’s $ though.
There’s a bunch of us using it: nothing out there any easier and it’s both economical and grows great cannabis.
@Myfriendis410 great to hear from you… Thank you for all the help…
Everything has been growing great… After several back to back to back to back grows… I am overstocked and a bit burned out… It’s going to be a great winter break after my harvest over the next couple days… Poor timing. It’s amazing how once you’ve got a bunch of grows under the belt it gets pretty easy.
Stay safe!
Anyone heard from or about @Hellraiser hope he’s OK!
Thank you once again for all of your help… Posted an update earlier in the thread… About to harvest my last for the year then taking a needed break.
Stay safe… Have a merry Christmas, Hanukkah, or Kwanzaa and happy new year!
He dropped out of sight a few months ago: keep hoping to see him back!
I call that the ‘Zen of growing cannabis’.
I love that… Nice.
My first three grows I used FF nutes. The last couple grows I used all advanced nutes. I had good luck with either. Don’t know what they mean by PH Perfect, because I have always had to adjust the PH before feeding the plants. No matter if using FF nutes, or Advanced nutes.
Does anyone feel there’s information missing from our fertilizer overview guide? Let us know and we may add it in the future!
Wish I found this a month ago lol but I’m in FFOF, first grow, I have the full FF nute line-up. Should I not use the nutes though, since I used FFOF and it runs hot? Or if I should use it, when would be best? just transplanted into 10gal pots, week 3
Welcome to the forum.
It won’t be necessary to feed until 4 to 6 weeks from your last transplant if using FF Ocean Forest. Monitor runoff PPM and begin feeding when the PPM reaches a level below ~1,000.
You will have to perform flushes to wash out mineral salts occasionally when using FF nutrients. You’ll know when it becomes necessary, as runoff pH will become impossible to manage. It likely won’t be necessary until you are into the flowering stage, several weeks after you begin feeding.
I should add that you can avoid these scheduled flushes by switching to Jacks 321.
@MidwestGuy much like many of us on here. I wish I would have started with Jack’s… I wasted money, time and gained frustration using fox farm nutes.
Jack’s is way easier and much more simple.
I used it for a while as well. I spent a year growing with the Trio. The Trio is effective, but it is a PITA to deal with because it is so salty.
@MidwestGuy exactly!
Plus if you choose to use the boosters… Wow… Nutelock city… Just caused problems and much more work.
I try to steer people away from boosters altogether. They create pH problems and screw up your NPK ratio, and for very little benefit. If a grower wants more PK, then just feed a little more of the PK product you are already using. Boosters are snake oil imho.
I second that.
If you were in my position would you just get jacks and just take the loss on the FF nutes (trash them)?
Yes, I would. The FF Trio is effective, but it’s too much work and it can cause problems.
