Is LST during flowering possible?

I’ve got this very tall girl going and I’m afraid she’s going to go right through the roof of the closet. She is 61 days old and 12 days flowering under 12/12. I think I’ve read that LST during flowering is not advised, can that be verified? Will the upward growth stop sometime soon? I love worrying about things like this! Thanks for any help.

Yeah should be fine to do some LST, bend over the main cola with some string, wont damage integrity and allow light to come down further for more.light to other buds

Great, thank you!

The stems of your plant harden when they start to flower making LST more risky and makes it easier to snap the benches, so yes its possible just be extra careful when doing it

Already snapped one :scream:, it didnt break and I was able to get it straight again. It was a main stem, hope it isn’t damaged.

Tape it with a couple popsicle sticks or pencils as splints and consider getting the light closer so it stops growing up and starts to fill in with buds

Good plan…thanks! Actually, I’ve got an 85w cfl in the box and the silly thing has grown past it. I’ve got a bit more room to pull the lamp up but than she’ll have to make a u-turn and grow downwards!

Your plant is most likely stretching from not enough light. It might help to add a couple more lights and put them fairly close (a foot or less) to the canopy. Just put the light closer and put your hand palm down over the canopy. If you can keep it there for 8-10 seconds and still comfortable, the light should be good.

That big cola definitely needs to be slowed down on the stretching. Like was said above, LST can be done just carefully. Good luck on you grow. Jerry

Needs be done slowly over few days to allow it to grow into a curved cola an not snap

Wouldnt panic over it crackin or slightly snappin

I hate to say it, but I disagree here. I think with how old your plant is that LST wouldn’t benefit it at all. That’s just my opinion though! If anything, I’d super crop the plant all over. If you don’t know what super cropping is I’d be happy to explain it.

Yeah, a lesson in super cropping would be super appreciated. I’m kinda nervous about LST 'ing this late in the game, especially with the main stem. Don’t want to damage the poor thing.

@ktreez420 I would of thought super cropping during flower would be worse for the plant than LST, as it is a much higher stress grade way of training?

@Countryboyjvd1971 @yoshi @Matthew420 @Majiktoker @DissidentPriest @Donaldj and anyone else I may have unintentionally forgotten. Any thoughts about this? I’m kind of at a stand still with opinions. In other words…I’M SO CONFUSED!

I understand why you think that, but the difference between the two techniques is important.

You LST a plant so that it can either grow a certain way (which is training the plant/limb), or to aid in exposure to the light/sun. At this point is his grow, training the plant wouldn’t really be accomplishing either of those tasks. The plant is focusing all energy on the buds, and they have grown to the top in an effort to grab as much light as possible.

While super cropping is stressing the plant, you can do it so that it’s only objective is to fatten the buds. Normally, you would super crop a limb so that it would aid in growth, making the spot where you pinch/squeeze focus energy on healing, in turn causing that plant to grow bigger. If you pinch/squeeze the stem/stalk under the budding areas, the plant should en focus energy in that area, helping the buds get more energy.

I wouldn’t really recommend doing it past the 2 week stretch of flower in the beginning. Anything after that time line is pushing it, because really ALL energy after that point is going directly to the buds, or should be atleast lol. I hope this helps!

EXACTLY!! Up to the stretch do what ever you want. After the stretch all your monkeying around is done, and nature will decide.

Good advice given to you by @ktreez420 and @DissidentPriest I agree with both of them
Super cropping is easy once you do it a couple times @DieHigh55

Great response bro, I can see exactly where your coming from and agree 100%, although it didn’t quite click to me at first that he was still in the stretch phase so it makes sense to be able to do it still as the plants still growing :+1:

In other words, the best thing to do is let Mother Nature do her job and for me not to mess with it. Good advice! Thank you all very much.
