Around week 5 since switching to 12/12. The buds are looking real nice. The fan leaves not so well, but I assume that’s natural. Will show outside plants when the rain and fog clears.
For my outdoor grow I’ve recently starting noticing signs of pests (chewed fan leaves). I was already spraying them with Captain Jack’s Neem Oil once a week, but have now started spraying everyday. Also we’ve had some heavy winds for the past few weeks and some of the branches have snapped a bit. I tried tapping one together.
Don’t spray every day, rotate a different product into your lineup. Only spray at dusk or dawn or night.
The heat buildup in those black plastic pots will kill the plants come August in direct sun. Either insulate the pots or put the bottom 2/3 in the ground.
Thank you for the advice! I have Captain Jack’s Deadbug as well. Should I switch between those two every couple of days?
First thing you need to do in my opinion is ID the pests. Take pics of them. Then choose the appropriate insecticide.
I saw some Japanese Beetles on them today. I think I am gonna go with spraying them with Deadbug, leave them alone for about 5 days, then use this product called Safe Caterpillar Killer, repeat.
Update -
Outdoor plants are doing good. Haven’t been able to water them with nutz in awhile due to rain. Been plagued with Japanese Beetles, but keeping up with spraying and plucking them when I see them.
Indoor flowering tent is in late week 7 early 8. Figured I was burning with the amount of nutz I was giving them so they have been getting plain water pH’d to 6.5. They look close to harvest time, but it’s hard to tell with all the nutrient burn they went through.
Neem oil has a tendency to inundate the taste of flowers if used after flowering begins. For the Japanese beetles i use liquid seven dust and it annihilates them and washes off. I started using a product from general hydroponics called azamax for other pest, it is basically a really refined neem oil that refining has taken the smell out of it.
Appreciate the info! Luckily I haven’t seen any of them in a few days. Once it gets closer to flowering time I was gonna start using Captain Jacks Dead Bug till harvest. I also use Safer Caterpillar spray in the rotation even though I haven’t seen any other pests besides the beetles.
Yeah man, I have been using that 7 dust liquid for a few years now on the Japanese beetles, i figure folks spray their vegetable garden with it, and the vegetables are fine, my cannabis will be to
Yes I do, your plants are drooping like everyone else’s outside due to excessive heat. The black plastic pots need to be insulated as the root zone is getting overheated.
In high heat you may have to water twice a day.
Thank you! I was looking at some things online and I’m going to wrap them in aluminum foil. Then next season I’m going to stick with fabric pots.
Looking good man. Those indoors are definitely near the end. The larger leafs dying like that is completely normal. Looks good!
I sure do love me some outdoor. Even those snapped stalks. Just something about it. They sure blew up in size pretty quickly.
