Indoor Grow Flowering

I am growing Cannatonic plants. They seem to grow fairly slow. I think I may have started pruning and topping them a little premature. They are about 8 weeks old. Should I let them grow out some more before I start the flower cycle? There is one plant photo that the tips on some of its leaves get brown and also it looks like some of the regular large leaves are drying out or getting brown parts on them. With this strain you want to let them dry out a little more but it looks like to me that they may be not getting enough water. I’m using Fox Farm, 45% humidity, 19 hour light, 75± F. Any advice from you guys is greatly appreciated. My first indoor grow since 1985 and back then I had no idea what I was doing! Thanks

Hi, topping or pruning was ok. Tips and also some margins sick, suggests poor root performamce.
Watering or pH. How often and how much, what for nutes or additives. And can you do a pH test. 8 weeks could begin feeding if you havent.

3 gallon pots. Fox Farm soil. PH is 8 or above (in the green) - tester is one of those cheap ones you stick in ground. Nutes I know nothing about. In 1985 I gave my plants too much in nutes and they went very pale for a while, so I’m scared to use them. I thought the new soil would have what was needed. What do you suggest for nutes? Watering is about every other day. Check moisture levels to make sure solid is fairly dry cuz ILGM suggest Cannatonic is prone to mold and to let it dry out a little. Do you think I should use more water? I use about 1/2 liter of water each

I just replied in wrong section. 3 gallon pots. PH at least 8 - in the green on cheapy gauge. Water every-other day about. Use about 1/2 - 1 liter water. Let it dry out as directed by ILGM cuz Catatonic is prone to mold. No nutes, scared of them because I used too much years ago and it took a long time to flush out pots. New Fox Farm soil, I thought the soil would have everything needed. What would you suggest for nutes? I can only think they are not getting enough water - would you suggest everyday, they dry out pretty fast. I sure appreciate your help! ty jm

Once a plant is around the 4th or 5th node is the time to start a drench to drought feeding/watering routine with ample run off Growmie. Over or under watering is frequency related not the amount given at one time. The plants look hungry and suggest getting a reliable PH Pen(Apera 20) and a TDS pen (Blue Lab) to measure nutrient input and run off. There’s way too much error using test strips :love_you_gesture:

Thanks OG. I think I’ve been under watering so I am amping that up to drench to drought and see what happens. Looking into testers.

Way too high. 6.5 is the sweet spot for soil and as mentioned you really need a pen to test water/food going in and for runoff.

Thanks Bonjoyle! When do you recommend starting grow cycle?

Not sure what you are asking @Jmiller

My plants are about 8 weeks old. They are in a 2x2x4 tent. I’m not sure how ling they should veg before the flower cycle starts. Thank you for your advice.

I dont think we yet know the pH I dont trust them numbers.
But agreed theyre hungry and watering needs improvment. Pick up a pH tester and some nutes asap, I’d let them dry then water very slowly til runoff then get watering right and feeding.
Soon as theyre healthy flip to your flowering schedule

Just ordered tester. What nutes do you recommend? I sure appreciate your time. This is fun but I worry alot!

I can only recommend what ive used, that’s not much! Anything made for cannabis.
I used GH floranova and liked it, will be trying Jacks because it got such a good reputation here sounds easy and gets results

If autos, doesnt matter as they are on their own schedule but if photos, it is up to you. I veg until my canopy is where I want and then make the change to 12/12.

This was my current girl at 10 weeks. She showed me she was mature and ready above…and below is 2 weeks later after the 12/12 flip

Hope this answers your question.

Looks really nice. ty

Evening OG: how do you recommend doing soil sample PH with an Apera20? Do you do a slurry sample? Thank you, jm

Evening Bonjoy, I have another question. started light nutes today. Should they be used at all watering on a weekly basis? Should fabic pot dry completely before watering or is some dampness on bottom OK? Thanks for your advice, very helpful, jm

Test either the run off or a slurry test Grow Bro :love_you_gesture:

What medium and the plants age Growmie? A good target range for feeding and run off would be in the 1000 PPM range and a PH of 6.5 for soil :love_you_gesture:
