Can’t remember who else does ebb and flow, but my active aqua 12 bucket ebb and flow system will be here today.
Is it best to put the res outside the tent? Chiller outside the tent also?
Any suggestions on the program? When I looked at the user manual, it basically said to program it how I wanted, but had some suggestions.
Any and all advice on this (new to me) system would be appreciated.
I know there are more ebb and flowers out they, so feel free to chime in.:blush:

If growing in a tent it’s always best to try and have reservoir and chiller outside the tent just depends on space and setup really . I run bubble buckets currently

You will be able to set the temp and the range before cooling. Like ±3F as an example. Best to keep chiller and rez outside the tent if possible.

@Joshmcginnis28 does ebb and flow.

Totally agree with keeping it on the outside, the chiller blows hot air as it removes the heat from the water. Res on the outside wont be warmed as much by lights and easier to work with. If your doing it right the tent will be wall to wall bud and no space for anything extra

Wall to wall bud? Lol, 10x10 tent, I need to get comfortable with the system before I put too much in there, I’m thinking 12.
Besides, will need room to get my microscope in there when the time comes.

Ok, I’m setting up the 60 gallon collapsible res, along with the AirCube active oxygen 12 bucket system, with the chiller. They have 3 holes with caps on the plastic, I’m assuming to run the air lines through, and power cord for the pump. It came with 3/4” tubing, and the holes will only fit a 1/2” tube. I took the whole plastic piece off, so now the 3/4” tubing fits loosely, should I tape around it so dirt and dust stays out of the res? The power cord won’t fit either way, so I will leave it at the end of the zipper, looks like it will got snug enough.
There is only 1 hole left after running in intake and outtake tubing for the brain controller for the AirCube. I still need to run intake and outtake tubes for the chiller. So my question is if I leave one in the zipper, just get it as tight as I can, what dust and or dirt that may get in, will that effect the pumps in time? Or is there another way to run the tubing?

Yeah what you did was fine by not adding nutrients you basically did a clean and flush. I would still add the same amount of bleach in with your regular nutrient schedule after and Also remove any beneficial bacteria from your feeding schedule as it would just be killed by the bleach. Let the roots heal and kill off all the rot and after that you can just reintroduce bennies. Bleach evaporates quickly out of DWC so after about 3 days it’s all gone and you can add back whatever without having to do an entire water change but with the stage you are at I would recommend a water change after 3 days. Good luck man.

My UC Roots will be delivered today, I want to add it to my buckets while I’m trying to get the ebb and flow set up.
My question is; can I add it with all my other nutes and supplements?
I’m using Lucas formula, GH micro & bloom, cal/mag, Hydrogaurd and Silica. Should I eliminate any of those or is it ok to add UC Roots with all the others?

Me personally when I don’t add hydrogaurd if I’m using uc roots . But only time I use uc roots is when my roots don’t look right or there’s a weird fool smell… also depending on rez temps uc roots only last about 3 to 5 days. But this is also explained on the instructions on the bottle… I use hydrogaurd every time I don’t use uc roots . I only use uc roots in f I’m trying to fix root issues such as root rot . But that’s just me someone else might say differently

Bleach leaves a residue that can harm plants. A better disinfectant is 3% H²O² for all of your cleaning needs. If you want to get really clean you can use paracetic acid.

I agree but in some cases with nasty bacteria h202 does not do the job well enough🤷🏼‍♂️ Of course there are hydro specific sterilizers that will do the same thing. Good luck my friend.

Thanks for all the advice, I tried bleach twice, water and bleach for 3 days, then regular nutes for 3 days, now I have UC Roots in there, doesn’t seem to be helping, think I caught it too late.
Now have a/c in the tent, and the water chiller pump will be here tomorrow, so I’m getting there.
The knowledge and advice on this forum is exceptional
Thank you all

Hey if it’s all going bad you will probably still have some half decent bud to smoke. I’m still learning and all of my plants have had issues so far. First was light. Second was root rot and a power outage that accelerated the root rot with no air and it got hot while I was away. And my last one got bud rot because I decided not to top it and had poor ventilation. This one I’m growing now has been battling with root rot but fingers crossed I have it under control now. All you can do is learn and improve. Keep up the good work man.

Got the water chiller hooked up today, got the A/C vented outside,
Just need to change the fan blower to intake
From the outside, instead of from inside the garage.

Res temp 68, ph 5.8, PPm 3100 need to add water to get this down, inside tent temp 70 with lights off, 90 with lights on, that’s with an A/C unit running. RH 58%.
There is 12 plants, 5 450w, 2 300w and 1 GB4 480w lights. Only using about 2/3 of the 10x10 tent.

90 with lights on is kinda high but I’m no expert. With 100% on my lights highest temp is 72 during the heat of the day for me. But I also only have a 150w light.

Yes, I agree, too hot. Thinking I can vent the intake air from outside which this time of year would be 20 degrees cooler air. Could also vent the outtake air to outside which would help lower the garage temp.
Also need to figure out the light mapping of my space, not sure I need all those lights.

What’s your light setup look like?
