Hello and thanks for allowing me to join a great forum of new friends. I recently bought 3 types of seeds blueberry kush, wedding cake, and afganistan kush. I germinated the seeds by soaking in water for 2 days out of 8 seeds 6 sprouted nicely 4 just in the water, and 2 in wet paper towel. So I planted the 6 that sprouted in a humidity dome soil pod set up. 2 Blueberry , 1 afganistan, and 2 wedding cake has grown 3" so far. That took 3 days only. The 2 sprouts that I planted are the Afghans that seem to be very hard to germinate/sprout and plant to grow. 2 of them seeds never broke the soil surface yet. And I have 2 seeds in a paper towel still 3 days which aren’t close to sprouting. My temp is 82 my humidity is 55-60. Can you provide any onsite on this process of failed seeds. I’m using a aero grow starter garden pod.
Looks good, medium looks pretty wet, so let those dry out for a little while. Not dry, but you don’t want them saturated either.
Welcome to ILGM.
Most likely, your failed germination came from a too wet environment. If you email customer service, they’ll replace the seeds that didn’t make it. The forum part is separate from the seed part.
For the plants that are standing up right now vs the seedlings that are still in soil with tap 1/4" roots which I checked under the soil are still trying to produce a few roots are still healthy under the soil. I’m guessing if I dry out some of this soil they will grow faster? But my standing trees now are about a 1-1/2 week old when should they start taking off faster growth? And I’m 1st time grower so I take lid off and check alot during the day is this bad for the plants. I’m posting a pic of how tall after a week and 1/2 with temp and humidity. Is 24 light on plants bad for these and when should I transplant in bigger pots. Keep the info coming.
and in this 2nd pic I noticed the leaves are welping they were stuck to the stem so I decided to lightly pull off stem. Is this bad that lead is limp. My tem now is 70 with 65-70 humYou have some serious stretching going on due to insufficient light. You really need to increase light to these or they will produce very large node spacing during veg.
More light!
As @Covertgrower stated pots look wet. You would be better off simply misting the inside of the dome with distilled water twice a day. That should be enough.
I lowered my lighting down to its 3" before touching trees, should I start to grow with or without dome on when I put dome on humidity goes sky high to 85
Also to add to that, they’ll be ready for transplant soon. You can bury that stretched stem so the leaves are about 1-2” above the medium.
Keep the dome on, the high humidity is needed until they their 2 or 3rd set of leaves.
What HE said!
I’m a first year grower myself, and I also have wedding cake. Mine did the same thing with stretching. Beginners mistake. I moved my light closer, about 4 inches, and they seem to be thickening up, but I’m probably going to repot them as covertgrower mentioned. Its good to have a place to get some advice so the effort is not in vain.
welcome to the forums @Italianking. i agree with both covert and myfriends about light, what light do you have? i also agree with them about the watering, it looks to me like they are too wet. i have tried to use the pods once on my first grow and i won’t use them again. i now put into water until the seeds crack and put out about an eighth inch tail and then i plant them into a solo cup with mother earth’s peat starter soil, but there are lots of ways of doing this stage and it is just what works best for you. my seedling stage has been pretty consistent at about 21 days to go from breaking the soil to having the 4th node start. there are times when you don’t think the little girls aren’t doing much at this stage but when they are not growing on top of the soil, they are growing roots under the soil. but looking at the stretch you have going on u need more light. i used to use the same light for my veg stage as i used for my seedling stage but have bought a t5 high output 4 light florescent and like it much better than the sunsystem 315 i was using, that was just too much light for the little ones and they didn’t stretch enough for what i wanted.
i was using sunsystem 315 in my veg tent for doing the seedling stage but it kept the plants too short. i like to see a good 3 inches before the first node and leave it don’t bury it. if you have short plants then the leaves when they get bigger will be into the soil and it makes it harder to work on watering and top dressing.
Yo Monk how are you old, old friend…lol so they say many ppl are drinking more with this stay-at-home order…care to comment? LoL
Oh welcome btw new italian dude… looks like some stretch armstrong dolls I use to have. Good thing covert caught up with ya. In good hands… peace n grease
i am drinking less and still trying to stop smoking cigs but am smoking lots more pot lol. i figure drinking alcohol lowers your immune system other than the part where drink whiskey to kill a cold lol, good 2 c u 2 @LoCoRock
@ monkman I was limited to buying lights right away at least great ones didnt expect seeds to sprout so fast. so I went to home depot today since everything around me is shut down. I bought separate lights for the time being. Hopefully this works better now till this shit virus disappears or something opens up to buy better lights
i wish that you would have asked some folks on here before you bought your lights. they are THE most important item in your grow except for good genetics on your seeds. the sunsystem 315 i told you about is a ceramic high intensity light that goes for around 250 as an estimate. i use a sunsystem 630 (which has two lights) for my flower tent and both my tents are 4x4 and they work great. BUT!!! if i were you i would look in the forums for the do it yourself (DIY) quantum boards if you have any abilities to work with your hands. i am a controls engineer but refuse to build my own stuff because i have no skills working with tools, i can easily poke an eye out lol. we have a lighting guru @dbrn32 who can help you with any lighting ideas and is very good. he also is very good at coming up with alternatives within a budget. what you have for your seedlings look like they will work, they look a little too close to me but that is for others. one thing that is very important and i can’t stress enough is that growing plants is a lot about patience… pay attention to what the plant wants, not what you want!
Definitely appreciate your knowledge. I’m amazing in my 2 outside gardens but shit is college degree I’m getting into. I own my own construction company building and remodeling houses so I’m great building and with my hands no I can’t wait to see what @dbrn32 my new main man pots and pans can teach me I’m always up for new things to learn. Like I said before my seedlings/ 4 sprouts were struggling bad to break surface. I swear I had this new light on them 7 hrs so far i drained extra water from soil pods as told to and i have 1 green blueberry leaf breaking through thank God.
sounds like your are heading in the right direction bud! do lots of reading in forums it can help.
and, if you can grow garden outdoors than you got this, just need to make some adjustments to how to make things work indoors. it really depends on what you want to accomplish and what you can put into it. i really like my 4x4 tents for indoors. i typically grow 6 plants per grow and got 17 ozs last grow. but it is about controlling variables so what ever you can do for that the better. you need right lights no matter what, you need to keep humidity around 50%, a little more for seedlings and veg and a little less for flowering. and i hate to say it, but you need to have a plan. my first grow i put seeds into water before i had lights or tent and boy was that a fck’d up grow. lol
Looks like an aero garden light you are using on the small plants. That’s about perfect for where they are at. How big is your grow space?
Was up Paisan…I soaked 3 separate strain seeds total of 11 seeds, 4 blueberry, 2 wedding cake, and 5 afganistan, in a warm glass of water in a dark warm closet, some sprouted on there own in the glass after 16hrs total of 4 did. Then 3 sprouted nicely in wet paper towels after soaked which are the 3 standing 3" tall in pics above. 2 sprouts are in soil and still waiting on surface breakage. And 2 are in another wet paper towel 1 of the 2 just sprouted 1/8" just now other hasn’t. I’m planting 1/8" in am.
Another question for you all… for the lighting goes. I heard multiple ways to use the lighting for my seedlings and my 3" plants, I’m reading probably to much as some say 24hr lighting is need right now, and other 1/2 I read and hear 18hr on 6hr off. It was my 1st day in this forum of my new friends so they limited my to 11 new messages so I was in jail for a few hrs in here lol. @dbrn32 I took aero garden down and stuck with the new black magic lighting above in pics @monkman trust me Paisan’s I’m more than grateful in everyone’s knowledge here I’m sucking this all in plus writing it down to learn better
