Can someone please give me some advice… I am at a loss. My dad thinks spider mites but I was thinking mold or something else. He has been growing for a extremely long time and had never seen this happen. He is 77 and its so hard to make him listen. Lol
Any advice would be appreciated.
There’s definitely what looks like webbing there. Not the best picture to go off. Do you have any sort of magnified to hand. Take a leaf off and have a look on the underside, if you have mites then you will definitely see them. This is what you will find. To the naked eye they will look like black dots moving around. You will also see a lot of webs going from leaf tip to leaf tip.
Time to bust out some captain jacks and send those bugs flying , good luck
You can definitely see some little critters on the stems and leaves.
Bugs… I hate bugs.
Best of luck!
It was dark when I took it last night I will definitely try and get a better picture… Can I treat it while its drying or is it a total loss . I have 3 like this, they were in the same location . My other ones are fine so far but had and have them in a different area.
Is it okay to use while they are drying?
If you harvested them like that it’s beyond treatment I also had spider mites and recently started treated them with Trifecta. It’s something I’m going to use as a prevention method from here on out and takes about three weeks of treatment to fully clear an infestation. They are definitely on all your plants just heavily infested the ones that are dying like in my crop they focused on two of them. I’ve been treating them for about two weeks now killed most of them noticing new foilage growth and increase in the popcorn buds.
Thanks I think I will go cry now. I guess its totally a learning process. Thank you
How does it smell. Can you see mould. Don’t get mixed up between mould and a really dense cobweb. Get the hoover out. If it’s a cobweb then the hoover will lift it off. If its mould then it will stay where it is. You can also break the buds apart. If they’re grey or black inside then they’re a goner.
Make sure you have a proper grip of the bud when you get the hoover out or it will have it
If you do have mites on the rest of your grow then peppermint oil kills them. 4 drops to one teaspoon of washing up liquid. Add to 6 fluid ounces of water and get spraying
Don’t use chemicals on your flower. Try the peppermint oil first
Whats the rest of the plant look like?
The 3 have been hanging for a week. Most of it looks like the picture . Thick webbing. It just makes me sick. No clue how my dad and I missed this. Yes I’m a newby but he is definitely an old timer. He has never seen this before. Im already at work. I will investigate more when I get home. And get better pictures.
Don’t be too hard on yourself mate. Spider mites make rabbits look frigid. They reproduce every 3 days so a week or two of that and your grow looks like it’s all set for Halloween. Get the hoover out and they will recover
You may be able to dry sift the buds and screen out the webs and bugs?
I heard chili powder works also but Trifecta is organic and safe for use on consumable crops and is effective as hell so I rolled with it. Have you had mites and your solution killed them or merely made them relocate to more favorable plants that aren’t your crop?
Yeah I’m almost certain that’s a adult mites webbing nest since I just had to clear that shit off my upper leaves when I finally noticed the infestation a few weeks ago. Do try what the guy suggested to make sure it’s not mold you absolutely can’t smoke that shit if it is it’s toxic.
I have mites which I’m currently dealing with. They can’t relocate as there’s nowhere to go. Everytime I spray I find more dead on the leaves do it definitely is killing them and I know a lot of these companies say their product is safe. Bayer are being taken to task as we speak regarding their “safe” claims. Personally I would rather use peppermint which I know kills them and at the worst will give me minty breath rather than a chemical which I know nothing about
Why not wash them and then dry them again. Rinse in hydrogen peroxide with water, then rinse in baking soda & lemon juice and water, then rinse in just water.
Interesting I’ll have to give that a go I mean I was going to flush them two weeks prior to harvest so I’d say the Trifecta would have been washed off at that point. I do prefer organic methods though since they are guaranteed to be safe as long as you’re not allergic to the item I guess.
