I bought what was available to me locally and am now reading that miracle grow is horrible. I planted germinated bag seeds and planted them into the medium on may 2. they are about 2.5 inches tall. can i transplant them into proper medium or is it to late?
You can transplant them to a proper medium any time during veg.
Flowering you can, but not recommended except for a few random circumstances.

also when i transplant should i try to get all the old soil off the roots since that is the reason i am transplanting? I don’t think i should keep the miracle grow soil on the plant when i’m changing it to fox farms. or will this stress the plant until it dies? just confused as the plant has been in current pot for about a week and a half

Whatever roots cling to the dirt I think you’ll be fine.
Youll be ok. Get proper soil and transplant when your ready. Ive grown in MG years back. It aint ideal but i smoked it. Dont worry.
1 piece of unsolicited advice tho… grab a couple fabric pots when you pick up soil. Dont use those buckets. Fabric will allow you some flexibility when feeding and watering. Meaning your less likely to overwater.

i’ve been looking everywhere for the fabric smart pots… every store is sold out around me… i fee like i need to transplant today as 1 of my girls is doing pretty bad. i’m driving right now but i’ll post a pic of her in a few min
