I’m planning on starting a new grow. Looking for some guidance

Hello family! I’m planning a to start a new grow but I’d like to take a step away from fox farms soil. What’s a good soil and nutrients that would be considered better than fox farms. I will be investing in better ph pend ppm meters this time around too so any suggestions on that?

I guess promix but at that point maybe try coco so your supplementing the nutes yourself.

I gotta do some research on it and with coco what line of nutes should I go with?

I’d also recommend coco over soil and I’ve been using Jack’s for a couple of years with no issues. Normally yield 12 oz. dried per plant.

@Myfriendis410 Is the 12oz/plant yield you mention from photos or autos and were they grown indoors or outdoors? I’m just getting prepared to start a grow and I’m trying to scope out what I’m in for.

My last year is documented here.

I can’t say from experience, but if I was going to change from happy frog that I always use, I’d go to SoHum. It’s quite a bit more expensive, but supposed to be a water only from start to finish soil.

If this holds true that would be really nice. Would love to hear some insights on this.

$50.79 on Amazon for 18lbs. I might give a try. :v:

I also use coco + perlite. And Jacks 321.

I also use Autopot’s (love them)

Photoperiod indoor under home-built LED’s. Jack’s 3-2-1 with silica. 3 gallon fabric pots in Autopots.

@Myfriendis410 Great. Thanks. I’m starting to get a better picture of how this’ll go when I get started.
@DEEPDIVERDAVE Thanks. I’ve already spent a lot of time reading your thread and many others. My picture of how it’ll likely go is getting better the more I read.

So many good products out there…also many great recipes for making your own super soil.

I use “Michigan Made Mix” and “SoHum”. Neither will get me through a complete grow start to finish tho. I usually end up supplementing nutes in flower.

There’s a couple of companies that sell parts. Cutter electronics is who i dealt with. If you have access to aluminum it can save you some money and have a better fixture than you can buy.

Amazon… They have everything lol.

Have you already shown me the light? I can’t remember… But I’d love to see a pic… Again… Maybe…

I went through their website that is really cool so you can just buy strips for a 5 x 5 put a aluminum frame together and make your own light. That’s pretty cool. Do you have pictures of yours?

I used 1 1/2" X 6" X 1/8" aluminum rectangular tubing I had left over from a business project. Painted white except where the EB strips mount, thermal tape for the strips, a driver on the back side and Bob’s your Uncle. Each fixture runs at 240 watts peak and I normally run them at around 200 watts peak. Lights stay cool and I usually have no issues in the grow space with heat. The fixtures are fairly diffuse so you can slam them down on top of the plants for better canopy penetration. I have four in my 4 X 8 grow space and normally run one plant under each one.
