I’m afraid she didn’t make it

This was an ilgm gorilla glue killed by me about 10 days after it sprouted. Happy Frog soil, pH of water 6.1ish, temp around 77F, humidity about 30, 300 W LED about 24 inches above plant. Gave one oz water on day 6 after sprout, when the soil felt dry and the pot was light. Four days later? Dead. This is what happens to me every time. :see_no_evil: The plant was green right up til it shriveled and fell over. Could you please help me with any ideas.

Humidity is way to low for a seedling . At that stage they should be under a dome with 75%+ humidity.

I start in a Solo cup of Promix HP. After seed germinates in water/peroxide it goes in that with a clear dome over the top. Promix is damp only. Twice a day the dome is removed and misted with distilled water then returned to nursery space under 24/0 light.

Cool. Thx!

Gotta dome it mate, cut a clear bottle in half and use the bottom to increase humidity. I think she’s fallen from stretch, see how she’s facing like that? That tells me she fell and was still alive and had in fact turned her head towards the light ready to go as opposed to just shriveled where she stood. I’ve had monsters come back from being more dead and crispy then that girl. Tap root looks good, I’d say she’d of had a 50/50 shot of making it atleast if you domed her before you pulled her🤷🏼‍♂️ They’re weeds and tend to be pretty hardy.

Can we have a moment of silence?

Great answer, Powaforce. Thanks! I was stunned when I saw the length of that plant’s main root. Maybe it would have made it, after all. Maybe 24 inches is too far from the light, and that caused the stretch, I guess. I have two new germinated seeds in the soil, now.

At that age the light distance is a hard one to gauge. The dome seems to help with both the stretch and from her drying out tho so I think that will help immensely. The first 2-3 weeks is the most important to keep an eye on, as you’ve found she can go bad this young but if your in soil and you check on her each day for a couple of weeks, generally there’s a bit of a buffer. :call_me_hand:t3:
