I have a 4 foot 8 tube florescent grow light system ,40,000 Lumens, 120 volts 432 watts 36 amp. I have 4 regular white widow plants, just turned them from veg to flower 2 days ago. My question is how many red florescent lights, and blue should I use for flowering?
You didn’t state what color temperature you have in there now but you’ll want 3000-3500k bulbs in there for flowering. 3000k being best for flowering but 3500k will work for flower and veg.
I’m not sure what color temp you mean? I have 2 red lights 4 blue lights, the rest are yellow . How many red lights do you use? @Bobbydigtal
He is speaking of the Kelvin rating for the bulb. Its a measure of bulb color temperature. Not a lot of people use T5 bulbs past veg, like me. Not saying that you can’t do it, but the plants need an increase in light energy when switching to flower. So most switch over to something a bit more potent. @BobbyDigital probably has the advise you are looking for, but you should read up a bit on the Kelvin temperature rating of lights. It will help you to understand what he needs to answer your question. Your bulbs label might also tell you a bit more about that bulb. Sometimes they mention it on the base or end of the bulb. Like T5 HO 24W 6400K. So this one is 6400Kelvin.
Remember to have fun with your grow. Enjoy!
These guys have you covered, I just wanted to post some pictures of what they are talking about. So look for the one that says 3000k for flower.
I looked at one of the white bulbs that weren’t in the fixture and it was 6,500k. @BobbyDigital, @kawasaki, @ Dave101, I didn’t want to take the red bulb out of fixture. How many red lights do I need. Thankyou
Depends. What are the red bulbs? Are they 660nm? If your white bulbs are 6500k you’ll want to swap them out for 3000k. 6500k has a lot of blue in them which is good for veg, not so much for flower. 3000k will have less blue and more red which is good for flower. If the red bulbs you have are less than 660nm, I would just swap them for 3000k bulbs. Here’s the difference of spectrum between different color temps
