@Lostgirl @kaptain3d @Myfriendis410 SausageMahoney @OGIncognito @MidwestGuy so I overdried my crop. This cabinet made everything dry really fast. I hung everything up on the 3rd and on the 6th it was feeling crisp so I put them in brown paper bags and hung it up and check the bags yesterday and everything was just crumbling apart as I was pulling it off the stem to jar it. I went a spitball of a paper towel and threw in each jar last night and it seems it brought it back a little bit but I know it’s still way too dry so I took the paper balls out put a fresh leaf in each jar. But still looking for some advice on how to make this s*** gain its flavor and whatnot
If the plant buds are still on stems keep them in the bag and put fresh leaves in the bag and close the bag up until you’ve reached your desired moisture content. They will rehydrate. A slow dry is most important for the outcome of the flavor and smell of your harvest.
@Lostgirl well I Jarred everything up and put a leaf in each jar, when you said to put a leaf in a bag, is it okay that I have it jarred up? Or do I need to put it back in a brown bag??
No you’re just fine having them in the jar. If at all possible, I would put a hygrometer in each jar. This is very important to monitor your relative humidity inside the jar for a proper cure.
Since you’re having dry out issues I would stay on the high side of 63% to 65% RH in the jars. This will allow your buds to pick up where they left off properly.
Maintaining 60%-63% throughout the entire cure in your jars are crucial to the outcome.
@Lostgirl okay yeah I have hydrometers in the jars and got them at like 72 / 75 humidity right now, I was just going to keep letting it drop slowly
Great. Now with 72% - 75% currently in the jars you’re going to want to pay close attention to burping these regularly every day several times throughout the day for 15 minutes at a time.
It’s ever so slightly dangerous with your current humidity in the jars. As long as you don’t forget to burp at least four times a day you’ll be okay.
Have you trim these buds yet?
@Lostgirl okay, I have East jar about halfway full, can I fill it all the way if it is not jam-packed, or should I keep the jars half full. Someone gave me two Grove bags, I was going to use for the other harvest

I’m assuming you have standard mason jars. I normally fill them up approximately three quarters full. Half full should be just fine.
Your buds should suck the life out of the humidity inside the jars currently as the center of your buds are probably bone dry. I suggest since you did not give your plant sufficient time to hang dry that once your humidity in the jars to get down to 65% you should rehydrate them one more time and let them continue to burp daily
It’s kind of like a makeshift dry all over again in the jars. In my opinion it will let the Terpenes continue to do their job
1.) Do you know exactly how long your buds were dried out for?
2.) Do you know how low the relative humidity was when they were dried out?
@Lostgirl I hung them in the cabinet the night of January 3rd and check them last night on January 6th and they were Chrisp. The temperature in the cabinet stays around 65 and the humidity was around 54
@Lostgirl you said it lets the terpenes do its job, which is what exactly? What are the terpenes doing while it is curing? I know it ages like wine or cheese I understand that but I’m just trying to understand what’s going on doing this 7 to 10 day drying process
Terpenes are within the trichomes. They’re responsible for the result of flavor and smell of your buds.
Chlorophyll has to be gassed off slowly before the real profile begins.
All of this happens properly during the drying process with a proper environment of 60° and 60% drying too fast allows/causes terpenes to burn off leaving your weed to smell and taste less appetizing than it should (like hay or grass)
They also continue to mature and do their job during the cure process. But if we dry too fast we kill off the Terpenes.
Personally I like a minimum of two weeks of slow drying keeping mindment 60° and 60% allow me to achieve this. Also hanging the plant and not cutting it into branches. I also leave all my fan leaves on. All this contributes to a slow dry.
You allowed your plant to dry (overdry) in 3 days. I’m sure this wasn’t your intentions but it happened. Catching it immediately and rehydrating give you a better chance of recovery.
This is why I say continue to let your 72% to 75% naturally get down to 65% and then raising it back up to 72% to 75% with more fan leaves and let it work its way back down into the 60% range again.
As I said before it’s like a makeshift re-dry in your harvest will absolutely benefit from it.

@Lostgirl yes I am following you. No I did not mean for it to dry so fast that’s why I harvested this one first to try to get a practice run. I’m cutting the good one down in the next couple days and I want to get this dry right. So the reason I have been wet trimming is I just figured that it was easier and will leave it looking better and dry faster but now I understand why you can’t have it dry too fast. I have a cardboard box I was thinking about running a string through and putting on the dresser in my room and using that or if I do use my kitchen cabinet again I’m not going to use a fan, I put a tiny pocket fan in there on low speed at the bottom pointing at the walls because I thought I had to have air flow but either way I think I can close that cabinet without putting a fan in it and I will be fine
More importantly while you have time before harvest you should search/test your property for a room/place that you can get as close to 60° 60%… this is going to be the most crucial part of obtaining a slow dry. I also suggest leaving all your fan leaves on the plant (that will get you a couple extra days)
@Lostgirl well the thing I noticed about my house is the temperature and humidity seems to change a lot depending on if my old lady is cold or not LOL that’s why I was thinking I could use the cardboard box and I’m pretty sure my bedroom stays around 60 5° or so. I need to get this figured out and yeah it’s too late to leave families on there I pulled the fan leaves off like 2 weeks ago LOL
@Lostgirl hey I came up on this vivosun highly reflective film. It is very thin, what is it? Is this considered mylar?
This is the film and this is the rum I’m trying to hook up. I even wish I could figure out a way to get this room cut halfway off with this film to give me a smaller gross face
