Hi follow farmers. I just got finished drying my first harvest and the buds still look very “airy” and not dense. Please see screenshot.
Any idea how i can fix this or is it too late? I just put the buds in jars to start curing. Will the curing process make the buds much more dense? Or am i out of luck on this one?
Also for future reference as i have 2 plants ready to chop with many amber trichomes but that have buds look just as airy as you see in the picture here. Anything that i can prevent at this point?

The density u feel currently as it being dry to the touch and about to jar em to cure is the density its more than likely gonna stay with. Once u jar it itll feel squishier and a bit less dense then when u air it out itll tighten back a bit. Its looking good though

I just put it in a mason jar for curing about an hour ago. So you think itll look much fuller after week 2 or 3 of curing? By the looks of the amount of bud it looked like i yielded 2 ounces dry at least (not everything was showed in the pic) but now i only have 23 grams from what i weighed. Should this weight more after a couple weeks of curing? Im new and this is my very first harvest so im a little bummed out and very concerned.

Oh yea I can just tell by looking at them they’re pretty dense let us know what the hygrometer in the jar says after a day , cause you may need to add a little humidity with lettuce leaf or lemon rind

Probably not the best pic or trim work lol. But its normal for them to look a bit airy with red hairs mostly lose before curing? I dont know how much curing does as far as increasing density. Do you have any examples of a before and after pic when it comes to curing ?

Those aren’t Larfy at all half of my last zkittle was pretty larfy they’ll dense back up when the core moisture rehydrates the tips

Yea during the dry before the cure youre losing water weight each day its drying. So if it weighed 2 zips days before u weighed the 23 grams it was still losing the water weight

Oh ok phewww i thought i messed up my grow or something lol. Do you have any pics of your zkittles buds before curing and after? If so please post here im curious lol.

Ah makes sense… so itll probably go up to an ounce probably after a week or so of curing ? Just throwing predictions out there. Really appreciate the help from you guys here

Nah it’s not really a visual thing it’s more of a smell and break apart difference and boy did the smell transform as it cured

Heres a superskunk nug right at jarring 3 weeks ago and then now. i guess it tightened up a bit but not significantly

Yeah at this point after drying it smells so much different. Smells not as good but not as much either… but i heard thats normal until curing. Cant wait to smell the real deal in 3 weeks

That looks much more dense than mine now. Hopefully curing for me will help fill in some empty spots

How long was the flowering phase before you harvested?

If the spots are that airy and not filled in it wont fill itself in during cure. But at the end of the day you got you nearly a zip of usable flower of a autoflower and from here you just get better and more comfortable. Nothing like smoking something you grew and nothing like watching her grow

Flowering times vary strain to strain, pheno to pheno and environmental factors amd stress levels

Yeah im loving growing and going through this whole process. Just scratching my head on what caused some airyness. At least compared to other buds i seen. Always gave good nutes and p and k levels were terrific. I i have two plants that have a good number off amber trichomes so theyre ready, but idk if i should leave them another week or so in hopes to see if the bids get denser. Idk maybe im being hard on myself lol

Lack of light can determine density. You need 40 to 50 true watts per sq ft in flower for dense buds. And harvesting too soon can cause it, stress, ph ppm issues, environmental. All can determine density. They all work in conjunction with each other

Light intensity gonna be your biggest factor here. What light are you using and what is the space?
Unfortunately, like mentioned, once dry that’s about the weight and density your dealing with. curing not gonna change this.
