Hello everyone,
I’m using Coco Loco as my grow medium. Anyone who has used Coco Loco or knows someone who has. Do you wet down the soil before planting your seed? If so, did you let it dry at all before planting seed? Or do you just plant your seed and water the area that your seeds in? I’ll be planting in my final pot (3 gal) and not transplanting. Sorry if this is a silly question. I just could not find an exact answer anywhere in regard’s to Fox Farms Coco Loco.
I’ve learned that Coco Loco is to be treated as a soil more than regular Coco Coir.
When prepping a pot with soil I do wet it with a sprayer as I mix it up before putting it in the pot.
You’ll know when it’s at a good moisture level when you grab a handfull and it doesn’t stay clumped together nor does it immediately fall apart. That middle ground.
This was the soil has enough moisture for awhile and you won’t have to water for awhile.
Coco loco is part coco I think around 30%
Hope this helps.
I appreciate your reply. I’ll try doing as you mentioned. Thanks again.
Pretty much treated just like soil, only real difference is its high coco-coir content makes it hold alot more water then a typical soil.
I don’t use Coco Loco I grow in coco-coir and perlite mostly but some in soil that I’ve added coco-coir to.
But with both I typically wet the media and plant the seed, sometimes I use peat pods or rockwool to germinate then the same thing, wet media abd plant yhe pod.
Some plant and water in, it’s really just preference I think.
I’ve used coco loco and have it in autopots right now. When hand watering I treated like coco as far as run off. I ph to 6.3 and went good. I dropped Beans directly into soil and put a humidity dome (clear cup) over and always had germination. Also used a sprayer with ph 6.3 to keep moist. Coco loco holds a bit of water so don’t go crazy watering it. Hope this helps.
