Coco Loco by FoxFarms is not Coco Coir, it is soil

I have been seeing this bounce around quite a bit lately so I thought I would make a thread.
For anyone that is trying this out thinking it is Coco Coir and should be treated as such, this is not the case. This is a soil with husks mixed in. The pH for watering should remain 6.2-6.8 and should water flood to drought, not daily.

Hope this is seen and helps anyone not aware of the diff between true coco and soil. Here is a more informative shot of what is in it that some of the pics I have seen posted lately.

I called them and spoke about the conflicting info on what is in it. I was told it only has about 30% husks not 50-60% as stated above. Another panel I saw said it did not have any nutrients in it but it does and another stated it had no Cal or Mag but it does have Cal. My veg nutes has Mag and all of the other micros in it so if I start to see a cal/mag def, I do a 1/4 strength feed of the 2-4-4.

I do not use this alone. My prefereed mix is 2 parts Frog to 1 part Coco Loco and Ocean forest with 20% additional perlite with no added nutes. Vigoro perlite is what I use.
Here is what I have going now using this mix in a 10 gallon.

Yes, definitely soil

Let’s break this down.
0.45 insoluble N (Aged forest products)
0.05 soluble N (Worm poop)
0.15 P (guano)
0.20 K. (Kelp)
1.00 Ca (oyster flour & dolomite lime)

The rest are microbes and fungi (non food source)

The Ca amount is quite minimal when compared to the amounts cannabis plants require for their lifetime. The oyster flour and dolomite lime are used, in this case, as a liming agent. That’s how you adjust the pH of the soil from way low back into range for soil. BTW, It has Mg as well; just traces from the dolomite lime. Probably so minor that didn’t bother to list it, but it’s there.

All in all, this soil has no real nutritional value. Just some minor traces that form the building blocks for a soil not completely devoid of life.

beautiful plant! thanks for all the good info. So with your soil mix you havent had to feed? or did I miss understand.

I do not feed until the 3rd week of flower. I transplant 4 times so I always have new soil for her to eat from.
Here are the 4 homes she is in from germ to flower.
