Hello all! Just dropped two seeds in to germinate. The only place I can put them are on the back porch out of sight. What is the minimum amount of direct sun that will ensure they get enough light?

An auto outdoors in a fairly bright location (not deep shade) should do fine with around as little as 4 hours of direct sunlight. The ambient sunlight should be more than any LED would produce.

@HMGRWN how much direct sun would be too much, where’s the sweet spot in your view?

They are some light 
hogs 
so it is hard to put a maximum on it. Cannabis is pretty hardy and will adapt to conditions as long as there is no sudden shock. Everything would have to be considered like water availability, soil type, temperatures, humidity, etc. Also a plant that starts out in harsh, direct sun may thrive where one suddenly brought outside after starting indoors would not do so well.

Welcome @Lightyear IMHO…The more sunlight the better…If you are growing outdoors and Autos you should be in for a treat! The sun in a very sunny climate wouldn’t be so much of an issue unless your talking extreme heat…I grow in a west facing area in my yard so I get the sun all day pretty much…and as @HMGRWN stated you want to “harden” your babies if coming from inside to outdoors…Other then that let them eat sun…

Welcome to the community, plants should be fine autos will grow in just about any reasonable amout of sun light .
I appreciate all of replies! I will be planting hopefully in a day or two. We have a couple of cold days coming up. Temps as low as 55. I plan on bringing it inside those nights as it will be hitting around 45. Should that be ok?

Too cold for seedlings! That can stunt the growth, maybe kill them. Could you start indoors for the first week or so and take them outside as it warms up during the day?
That is a lot of moving in and out but those are pretty low temps for seedlings/sprouts.
That is no problem as long as daytime temps are 70+(f) or so.

Yea that’s (45) a bit cold for seedlings/sprouts as @HMGRWN has suggested…but 55 F is not that cold for these autos…now for maximum growth etc etc yeah maybe a tad higher at night temps…I think most strains according to the ILGM descriptions on Autos can take that though just fine…It all depends on the strain and how old/big they are now… As far as killing them Meh…Not to self promote my grow journal…but at “Love it or Leave it” I have a plant that I didn’t purposely plant that sprouted and is growing ( very slow though)…Low night time temps were 32F…67F daytime rain clouds sun off and on…some even frosty days…Its NOT the ideal at all especially if you want maximum out of your grow…But point is it wont kill them…Ruderalis is very resilient.
