Hi. I just started 3 auto seeds indoors. I soaked them for 48 hours, put them under a wet paper towel for 24 hours after that, then they were planted in temporary starter plastic pots using last years crop soil dirt from the flower bed, FFOF.
I then placed them inside the shed under a grow light, so far 2 have sprouted and look good, the 3rd one hasn’t broken thru yet but hopefully it will.
My questions are, how far from the grow light should the baby seedlings be so they don’t get burned? I also don’t want them to stretch too tall/long if they’re too far away from the light. And last, when or at what point do I start to put them outdoors in order to start the hardening off process?
TIA!!!
A cheapie one from Amazon. Not super large, enough for the baby plants but not enough light for long term if I wanted to keep them indoors. The grow light is prob large enough for one plant if it were kept indoors in a tent. I only use it to get the seedlings started. I keep them under the light 24/7 until they can go outside for good.
Without knowing the make and model I have no way to say how far it should be.
I have had lights that needed to be 3 inches away and others 3 foot.
Typical light that will actually grow 1 plant would be 100 watts.
Start that kind of light at 20 - 24 inches and adjust if plant stretches.
Start at 16 to 20 inches. I have a very similar one I use for seedlings.
Transplant into final home and move outside around 2 weeks. Try to harden off by week 3.
Autoflowers don’t give you much time to wait around.

Is round the clock light 24/7 for the two weeks ok? Or should I give them some dark time? Wasn’t sure if it mattered since they’re autos, I’m just afraid of burning them if the light is too close and I’ve read you’re not supposed to water seedlings very much at first. Thanks again!!
