Hello, I have a space with big french doors that gets indirect sunlight and plenty of sea breeze. If I put some autoflowers there would I also need to buy lights? If yes, would the lights need to be on during daytime? Would the natural light coming in render the grow lights useles? Would it be better to just put the blinds or curtains on the door and just use rhe grow lights? Any input would be welcome.
Direct sunlight would be ideal. Indirect is better used for seedlings but even that can lead to lanky thin stems. If I were you, I would look for the darkest area in the house, black out windows of you don’t want to buy a tent and use a decent light. Optimal wattage would be about 200 watts of LED per plant. If you prefer not to use LED then there are other options but I’m not well versed in them to be able to give you fair advice on them.
Direct sun light is hard to beat but with autos can you get enough of it? With the short veg period they need the longer days to optimize their potential. The other drawback is windows in houses today are made with uv protection and with light passing through them some of the good rays cannabis needs are deminished or sometimes lost. I would lean towards trying to set up a good dark room, get some good lighting and go from there if its feasible to do so. You could grow some weed through your door windows or you could GROW some weed, up to you on the quality youre wanting to fit your needs.
If you could get them in direct sunlight some it would really help. They will grow like “a house plant” but not very well really.
If you could get some supplemental light it would help and with autos you can run the lights day or night either one, autos do not require any darkness at all.
If you could manage putting them outside in direct sunlight a few hours each day if that’s possible, it would certainly help.
No, Indirect light is not going to work.
We see people try window grows all the time and its always a failure.
Cannabis is a light hog of a plant.
Lots of good advice here. A small tent 2x4 doesn’t take up much room at all and is minimal cost. You can control the atmosphere your plants live in. Autos are perfect for a small tent as they don’t get very tall. Good luck with your decisions. Growing is fun and addictive and you can reap the rewards of your harvest… Happy Growing
Hey @Amorcito id definitely use grow light on them. You can be ok with vegging a photoperiod cannabis with indirect sunlight because they allow you to control the flip to 12 hours of darkness to commence flowering. But Auto-flower has limited vegging period so faster growth admiring this phase is controlled by genetics Sounds like you have no tent or any way to control complete darkness.
Cannabis needs lots of direct sunlight or strong artificial light, needs to have all the wavelengths of sunlight to get dense trichome covered buds.
Horticulture grow led lights today have all the necessary wavelengths to provide excellent bud production.

I would set them there and put a good led light over them. Can’t see the need for a tent. But yes from what you described you would need to run then during the day.
Also, house glass blocks out the good part of the light spectrum
