Hey all i live in Australia and I am preparing for my first indoor grow. Just bought 30 auto flower seeds. I have a 3x3 grow tent wondering how many plants I should aim to have in there. Thanks

@Overlord. 2 would fit comfortably.
4 would be tight when they get into flower.

1 plant to a 3x3 space under 315 CMH is my go-to formula. I found it to work best for maximizing a return on my efforts, but in a tent I have no experience, it may not have enough headroom, I dunno?
4 to 6 in a 3x3 can be done, but they would have to be kept dwarf, lowering the overall production vs. effort.
Once a plant is unnaturally too large, it becomes hesitant on both flowering and finishing, lowering quality and production as the bulk becomes less bud, more sticks, leaves, and new flowers bursting from old.
When a plant is too small, the finished buds are also small, I found a plant 4 to 6 ft tall (outside) is the right range of size for best production and quality, any larger and the plant starts shading itself making trimming a constant and exhausting task. Any smaller, the weight decreases dramatically and the buds are small, even the tops, regardless of trimming.

Thanks for all the responses think I’ll go with 3 plants. Still looking for a good led for the light though I have been suggested a qb 260 xw kit but havent been able to find one. And I am not confident in making one

@Overlord I also grow in a 3x3. I have grown 4 white widow autos in 5 gallon fabric pots with Scrog. They did well. There just isn’t a lot of room for individual plant maintenance - 5 gallon takes up a lot of space but mostly because of the net. I currently have 4 amnesia haze autos in 3 gallon fabric pots in there. Plenty of room. In between those grows I did 3 blueberry autos (would of done 4 but for germination issue). Also in 3 gallon pots. They were under 320 actual watt full spectrum light. AH and BB are compact strains. The strain you want to grow and pot size will have an impact on how many. You can also go the See of Green method ( I have not used) and pack them in there (probably 5 in 3 gallon).

I’m all about more plants the better…but not plants from seed and DEFINITELY not autos. In a 3x3 tent I run around 5 plants each grow(3gal pots). But not autos, only photo period plants. If I were doing a clone only run in a 3x3 I would have 12 plants all in 1gal pots.

can you not go out in the mulga and plant some seeds as a test ?
I do 3 or 4 plants usually in a 3x3 in 7 gal fabric pots, always plan for 4 but sometimes it doesn’t work out and I end up with 3.
Even 3 will fill up the tent nicely like this
Same 3 plants moved to the 3x3 flowering tent with a screen a couple weeks later

As you can see, answers on this are all over the place. There are members here that successfully grow a lot of plants in that space. There are also members that struggle with 1 plant in a 3x3.
Your success will vary on the amount of research and knowledge you have on your exact grow plan, and how well you execute the plan.

@beardless This is my first trial at growing autos. I read to stay away from SOG or Scrog and other HST. Do you know if this is correct? How did your plants react to scrog? I am also running WW auto
