I had a plant grow from seed, it did very well. Just before I cut it down for harvest, I took a stem start from it and planted it. It did well, as well. I have another start/ cutting ( 3rd) from the second generation of the same plant. So this makes the third time I have grown a plant from a clone, from a clone, from a clone. Will this 3rd grow be any good, as far as potency, or does it get weaker with every clone I grom from it? TYIA. Scott
Genetically the same but I think you will eventually lose some vigor. I wouldn’t see any issue doing this a few mord times though.
I’ve run clones many more years/generations and not notice loss in vigor or potency. As long as you keep selecting healthy/vigorous growth for your cuts, you can keep a line going for decades. Every time you chopped their heads off and root again they’re building up auxins/cytokinins again, so no loss of vigor.
Eventually, you’ll get some genetic drift occur. Growers will often take mother plants into the sun temporarily to re invigorate them. They feed them up for fast growth energized with the natural light. Then take the vigorous top growth and use to establish the new mother.
