How long do seeds keep?

I was told they should be germinated within a year. Is this true? How long before they become too old to germinate? What’s the best way to store them.

I ask because I only have a small outdoor space, for about 5 plants. So I’m not going to order 20 fem. seeds if I can only use a handful of them. Not literally a handful obviously!

Store them in a cool dark place. They can be kept for years I believe if kept in a hospitable environment for them

Yes @Hawkeye_diesel is right, store them in a dark cool place and yes they can be good for years and still usable if stored right

The best way to conserve seed, @Jenntee, is to put them in little ziplock bag put in a pill container and seal vaccum and keep in your fridge, they will last for minimum 5 years if stored that way :grinning:
