I cut off all the fan leaves, (and dispose). I cut all the sugar leaves,(really close) and save for butter.

I thought my sour diesel had a pretty strong odor the entire time it was in flower growth stage. When I first cut it and hung it to dry there was some odor, but not quite as strong. After it dried for 10 days I finished trimming it and placed it in mason jars for the final curing process. Every day I would burp the jars, sometimes twice a day for about four weeks. The odor was unbelievable! It would make my wife mad when she would come home, she claimed the entire house smelled like a marijuana farm. LOL!
It was strong! Really strong!
I gave some of the finished bud to a couple of friends and they claimed it was some of the strongest smelling stuff they had ever sampled. My friends asked me how I masked the odor? I told them to get a mason jar and store it in there. That is literally the only way I could hide the odor, two plastic ziplock baggies did not work either.

No, I cut individual branches. It was grown thru the screen method. The buds were so big I couldn’t cut whole plant without cutting up the entire screen.
Good to know. So you noticed that smell come back after about a month if curing then? what were the temperature and humidity of your drying area if you don’t mind me asking? I’ve heard that a longer dry is better.
The smell wasn’t as strong when I first chopped the plants. It was there, but not as strong. After hanging and drying for +- 10 days the odor came back stronger. After 4 weeks of curing, burping daily in mason jars, the odor got really strong. I mean like knock your a@@ off strong, I mean like give you the munchies, lol, strong. I am currently in very large UV resistant mason jars with 62% boveda packs. Please remember this is sour diesel variety which tends to be strong odor anyway.

So 6 days ago I decided to try something a little different just to see how the results went, and I tried the dry trim method. Cut the plant as a whole at the stalk hung upside down and it dried for 6 days. there is no doubt in my mind that this is the method I’ll be using from now on. Throughout the entire dry they smelled absolutely delicious and we’re 100% smokable tasted amazing and smelled great right off the plant after dry. I didn’t experience any grassy / hey smell whatsoever. Temps were 71 degrees 55% humidity. And honestly I thought it was easier to trim dry then wet to be completely honest. Harvested 1.8 oz dry from amnesia Haze and the Northern lights gets trimmed tonight. Extremely impressed by the genetics from ilgm I’ll never order from anyone else! Anyone on the ropes about the autoflower mix pack I can assure you it produces results.

These are some of the prettiest buds I’ve seen and I think I can almost smell it. I hope I can get some like that some day. I’m on 2nd grow and learned so much going thru 1st it’s going to get better. Too bad I can’t sample alittle LOL. Happy growing
