How come aborted Replies don't stay deleted?

I guess this would be considered off topic.

When I’m on someone’s Topic thread and get inspired to reply with a comment, I click Reply and compose my comment and click Reply again. All works well. But sometimes, for whatever reason, I decide not to post my comment and I close the composers window without posting. Then I noticed, the next time I’m on that same Topic thread, the comment I had composed is still there. I’ve even deleted the entire composition before closing the composer’s window and closing the Topic thread.. But when I return, the comment composition is back. It won’t stay away. Does this happen to anyone else?

When I’m on this forum, I’m usually using my pc so I don’t know if using a cell phone will result in this same thing happening or not. Does anyone have any insight to what is occuring? :v:

Hey y’all, sorry to bother you, I know your’e busier than I can probably imagine. I’m not sure where else to ask or direct my question.

Would any of you know why this issue occurs? I’m not even sure it’s something I have to be concerned about? Like now, I started composing a Reply the other day on the Community Event Number 2 topic but it sounded like I was whining and decided to delete it and not post it. But now today, it’s back. I’m guessing when and if I do have something to post and I replace it with my new comment and post that, I am assuming it will then be gone?

Interesting. If I go to that topic mentioned above, I can see my old Reply still populated in the composer’s window at the bottom, and if I then go click the I :purple_heart: ILGM logo at the top, it takes me to the home page and the same composer’s window is still at the bottom of my screen with my aborted Reply still populated at the bottom. Then if I select any of the Topics or click my “avatar”, then select from the drop-down any Topic I’ve been “mentioned in” or gotten a “like” in, when that page comes up, my aborted Reply is still at the bottom. The only way to get it to not appear at the bottom of a new page, is to right click and open the Topic in a new window.

Now I’m going to go replace that “aborted Reply” with a test Reply to see if that permanently deletes the “aborted Reply” (did that make sense?)…I am assuming it will. Stand by: …OK. Well, when I replaced the old Reply with a new one and posted it, it seems to have gotten rid of the prepopulated Reply window when I return to that Topic.

This is more of a nuisance than anything else, so if y’all don’t have time to answer, that’s cool.
If I’m just boo-hooing here, just tell me. I can take it. :smiling_face_with_tear:   :v:

I have no idea.

It saves the reply if you choose not to post or go do something else. Often it will ask to reload previous reply if you start typing another. I find it helpful when I swap devices or battery died. You can simply click the red, discard button and it will delete the archived copy if you choose not to post it @d-Jawz

Funny you say that. I just went to a Topic I had a Reply that wouldn’t delete and decided to go ahead and post it. But when I tried, nothing would happen, like the screen was frozen. So I attempted to close the screen and a pop up came up asking if I wanted to discard my Reply. I’ve never seen that window before. But when I clicked “Discard”, the screen greyed out and froze. I gave it a few minutes but finally closed the browser and opened another session. It must just be computer glitches on my end, or connection problems, or you name it - cyber gremlins. Thanks. :v:

Yeah I’m not sure. I don’t use pc that much. On the phone I just hit the x and select discard and it goes away

That’s why we called it Microsoft Winblows back in the day. I abandoned it years ago. Now I’m usually on a Raspberry Pi 4B running Linux (Ubuntu) or Galaxy S24/Android.

The forum has an auto save feature. I’m not sure what triggers when/where it saves, but I’ve had similar experiences.

Like BobbyDigital posted, if you delete the post it should go away. Otherwise it will just repopulate to the last place it auto saved when you reopen the thread.

Go to your activity. Look for a “draft” option. You can delete them there.

I don’t use my cell much, makes my old eyes go whacky, HA! I could alway jump on just to delete something if I really want it gone. Sometimes I can get hung up on stupid stuff. Thanks. :v:

I hadn’t thought of that route. I’ll give it a try next time. Thanks. :v:
