HLG 650R in a 3' x 3'

Last year, I bought the HLG 650R for my 3’ x 3’. Did I go overboard?

It’s a little over for a 3x3, but should do fine. 3x3x45 = 405 watts. You should be able to run high PPFD with it. I run 405 watts per plant, so I wouldn’t consider it to be overboard. Others might.

Is it the 650r Diablo.
Was looking over the PPFD charts at HLG and in the middle of chart hanging less than around 30” would be very high PPFD in the middle while the edges and corners have great numbers for a 3x3.
You can always dim it down if you don’t have the headroom to keep the light at that distance above the canopy in the middle.
You can get creative in tying them down and rotating the pot to have the shorter branches in the middle of the circle so to speak where the PPFD is most intense.

800-850 PPFD would be max I would suggest without supplemental CO2 from what I’ve read anyway.

Awesome light!
It will work well too if you decide on a bigger tent.

650r is a sweet light. Hopefully you got the head room. Im running 2-350r’s at full power and a 30w uva for a total of 700w for one plant lol. Check this gal out

Will be just fine. Dim it. Better bigger than too small.

@Skydiver — Yes, it’s the 650r Diablo. It’s was a refurb with an additional discount, so I couldn’t pass it up.

@Poseidon1 — I’m on my second grow and am running autos now, so height is not an issue. I picked up a Gorilla tent that’s 7’ tall so I’m good for now.
