Lighting Footprint 👣 HLG

Greetings Earthlings- I recently upgraded to a 4x8 Gorilla Lite tent. I’m debating on my lighting-

I was going to use 2x HLG 350R’s longitudinally:

Or, I also have a spare HLG 300. Which I could arrange like this:

Would the combination of the 3 be overkill or adequate? Looking to house about 6 plants.

What I know… Is I know a person that knows about lights… @dbrn32

Best thing might be to hook them up and take readings and see where your hot spots are with your 2 options then you can compare.

There are some smart phone apps ppfd meter or photone each have their quirks but could give you some data to compare…

Option 2. You’re coming up a little short in a 4x8 with 2- 350’s.

I have the light meter but never really gave it much merit- probably since I’m not too sure how to read it :man_shrugging:t2:.

Aye- my instinct was this

Welcome!

You certainly want to get a ppfd or par meter. So you can accurately get readings at certain spots in the grow tent. As already indicated in early poster member. I use an app on my phone and it covers PAR, lumens etc. PAR is what your worried about with the ladies. More light the better…but needs to be correct for the stage of the plant—I use LED’s Works well for me in a small grow tent. Keeps the best down for the most part. Happy growing. :sunglasses::sunglasses:

1 option i use in my 4x8 is a light rail. If i only run 2 lights i adjust travel and speed/hover time. They advertise up to 30% better coverage with less juice. I believe them. 300.00 investment. Running 3 480 true watt boards dimmed and medium traverse speed. I could actually pull 1 easy and turn them up with longer track run and speed.

That definitely is an option if you don’t have enough light to cover the space but it looks like he has enough lighting. I would like to test out a light mover to see if it affects the plants differently than stationary lights.

Removes all hotspots for sure.

Haven’t experienced any hotspots with LEDs.

Hlg says this light will veg a 6x6 and flower 5x5. They do make some heat and they suggest 28-36" above canopy and 15 inches between light and top of tent. So plant height management is probably important.

Run like you have setup using the hlg-300 with the 350r’s.

Hang them in each configuration. Take PAR readings. The science won’t lie.
