Hiding the Smell of Weed

Hey there guys/gals. If I have NO reason whatsoever to hide the smell from anyone, and I mean anyone, is there any reason I would need an exhaust fan in my tent.

The carbon filter is what help blocks/filter the smell out. Your exhaust fan is still good to have to exhaust stale air out from the top or to bring in fresh air at the bottom of your tent.

Howdy there @Highgrow. I had all that filter stuff years ago but where I live now no 1 gives a $h!t, not even the cops. They stopped and took a peek over my fence last summer cuz they could smell it from the street. Said it looked great and left. Figures. Neighbors are always asking how things are go’in too. Life’s good! Now, even if I have excellent air movement through my grow room would I need a fan.
Thanks

Even if you have good air circulation in your lung room, which you should, you still should be using a fan in the tent to draw all that nice fresh air in. Happy Growing Growmie

If you’re growing in a tent you’ll NEED an exhaust fan.

The exhaust fan pulls cool dry air in the bottom and hot humid air out the top. The system needs the air flow to maintain the correct humidity levels. Temp too, but high humidity starts mold and you can quickly lose a whole crop.

Where ever the tent is set up the climate will need to be controlled as well. Most do a smaller lung room. I use a 8x12 “lung room” with a 30 year old 5000 btu a/c with dials. If I have a power outage it comes right back on. The room also has a 50 pint per day dehumidifier. I keep the room at 74f and <30% RH, This allows my exhaust fan to regulate the climate in the tent. It stays around 78f and 48/55% RH. If I turn the exhaust fan off within minutes it’s close to 70% RH and >85f.

lol, your as bad as me, I built everything I could myself, but some thing I just had to bite the bullet.

Edit:
I strongly suggest looking at AC Infinity for equipment. Prices aren’t bad and the customer service warranty is top in the industry. They had a few complaints about clip on oscillating fans so they came out with a 2nd gen. Any one with the first gen can keep it and they’ll send you a new 2nd gen for free. Submitted my order number and within 2 ours received an email confirming the shipment of two new fans.

I agree with the above comments. Probably still good to use one imo

Thank you :metal:

Definitely agree with others. You may not need the carbon filter but you do want an exhaust in there for the air exchange. We have no reason to hide the smell either but still have a carbon filter and it still smells like weed lol so they won’t do that much hiding when your grow is strong lol

Absolutely agree. ACI is the benchmark standard when it comes to exhaust fans. Their tents, lights, and controllers are of high quality as well.

Definitely invest in a fan, ACI 6" is top notch.

I don’t zip the tent, I don’t run an exhaust fan.
I dont suffer a bit from either.
I have a small 6 inch fan blowing over the canopy and a column fan outside blowing gently into the front.
All an exhaust fan would do for me is make noise. Already have air movement.
If I was going to zip the tent and close off the air supply then I would run the exhaust. I actually have one and ran it for a while until I discovered I had no need to close the tent up.
I turn on lights at times during dark periods. Check with flashlights sometimes. Leave a door to the grow room open 24/7 and there is a little ambient light that goes in.
Yes, I do everything wrong, but apparently do enough important stuff to get it done.

I would use the fan for airflow. You dont have to use the filter.

Hey @Spiney_norman ,you took the words right outta my mouth. This is what I was gett’in at. I’m do’in exactly what ur do’in. Plus there’s 2 windows I can open if I need more air moving. Guess I should have explained that better in the post. I’ve got a small fan in the tent and only zip it halfway up. The numbers I do check are all within range. Like I said before, simple man simple ways.

For me I use all AC Infinity products for fans and filters. All 6 inch ducts. I only did so many grows, 4 and I always seal up my filters after my grows. I know I have a small AC Infinity filter inside the tent sucking the smell before it goes out to another long Ac Infinity filter for exhaust. Yes double filters I don’t smell anything ever even when I open up the tent it takes a good minute to start smelling. I’ve had these filters for a few years and they’re still working awesome and they have new renewable ones. For me I like a little bit less smell. I live in a condo, yes it’s legal, yes nobody can say anything to me. I just don’t want it to smell like growing weed 24/7.
So like a lot above me said about AC Infinity hands down the best would I buy again absolutely.

Everybody has differing needs and circumstances.
I happen to have an area where I can do it this way. If I had to mask smell and control light I would no doubt set up like many others do. But I have come to the same conclusion. An exhaust fan setup for me is not needed. Lets me save a little money on carbon filters.

Yessiree @Spiney_norman, I spent $75 ten or so years ago on a nice S/S carbon filter. Used it once and been in the box ever since. Pretty sure its refillable too. Would sell it if I could find a buyer. In the basement collecting dust. Have a 4’x4’ tent I need to get rid of too.
