Thanks everyone, I’ll back off on the mycos. I only paid ~$20 for that container…and the instructions claim only a 1 gram of powder for each gallon. That’s 200 gallons for the whole container. I’ve been using it to make sure the soil has some good micro-organisms. But, I’ll probably just sprinkle some powder on the top and leave it at that.
Thanks for the advice!
BigItch - I’m planning to use Jack’s 123 when needed. I already received part A, and part B will arrive in a few days. I’ll grab some epsom salt from the grocery store.
From what I understand…it takes about 5 weeks to use up all the FFOF nuts…so I’m still a few weeks out before I need the Jacks. Clearly, I’ll test the run-off.
I pinched off a number of fan leaves today and cleaned up the plants for more light penetration.
I’m running the Mars 1000 at 100% (18/6 schedule). I’m considering hanging the 300W output light I got with the grow tent:
Jacks is a solid choice … why not more light, it certainly can’t hurt . I have 650 watt draw pull for a 5x5 so I’d slap everything ya can at her. Just keep on eye on your heat but from what you’ve been saying it would be beneficial.
Thanks! Heat is not a problem growing in my “speak easy.” It’s literally an underground lair surrounded by concrete. If you recall (above), I had to insulate it.
And, even in summer, that lair stays in the mid 50’s F, in the winter…mid 50’s F. With insulation, it’s 60 degrees F.
My Inkbird controls my heat and humidity.
I’ll hang that light soon (probably tomorrow). Cool thing is, my light timer as two outlets.
I talk on a few grow sites and forgot about the speak easy… Just went back and reviewed the post because I hate work
I noticed you have your humidifier outside of your tent… is that effective with the gap on the door. I see how your inlet and exhaust fan would bring it back and forth in a closed space. I would think the gap on the door would make it less effective though… I could be missing something.
Did you get to that training over the weekend?
I switched my girls and am bored to death waiting for them to flower. I ignored them for two days went back and had a break down because not one bud site
I’m interested in that grow space. I keep thinking it’s in a milk house in Nebraska I have a whole story made up .lol
For @BigItch…The humidifiers are working awesome outside the tent. The carbon filter fan is all about sucky…and I have one of the vent flaps open. I can see the humidity getting sucked into the tent. It works great!
It helps that I have my speakeasy door in place (it has foam insulation on the backside of the wood paneling).
I keep my door a crack open (6") so I get outside air in (mainly CO2). I also have my carbon filter fan ducting pointed at the 6" crack.
From my pictures, I attempted to use a duct fan to suck humidity into the tent (from the heater humidifier), but it works better disconnected. I’m actually thinking I’ll just disconnect it and close up the opening.
With my 85% closed system, I have created the perfect environment (according to my reading and logic).
I did train some this weekend, and I just trimmed the lower leaves.
I agree, it’s kinda boring waiting for the flowering stage!
On my first grow, I spent endless hours sitting in front of my unzipped tent just looking them over. Was scuten
Second grow, was down to just checking them everyday. Except when I had a problem to troubleshoot and fix.
Third grow just started and I’ve relaxed a lot! Plenty of cured weed in the bin so I’ll probably only check every couple of days including when I top and LST my first photoperiod I’m growing.
It gets less stressful and time consuming as time goes on in my opinion
I can’t thank you all for giving me nudges in the right direction! I’m scared for what comes next…but I’ve learned at an early age that it’s one day at a time.
Okay I was missing something… very nice
You planned better than I did my first grow. Where there’s a plan there is always better results.
Well done
Love the training on the front plant
Training is a daily chore it seems. The more you train the better growth. Topping gonna make you happy in the long run I’m sure of that. You are learning in leaps which is awesome. I find quite a few growers that don’t try to learn it seems… they want you to run the grow from a distance and really on that only. Or MY Favorite the askhole. Ask a question and do the exact opposite and then be mad when the results are not good so they ask yet another question they have no thought to follow…
Humidity is reported often on this site as a problem that requires solving for best crop results.
I ran my Frigidaire Dehumidifier for 5 years, manually emptying the GALLON+ reservoir.
The Equator seriously get hot all year.
This model does produce dry air, water with PH 7.0 and HEAT for drying more air.
For winter northern applications, it probably is worth more than costing. Dry air, Heat, good water.
for anything smaller than 96x96x96 it may be too much, but it does have a digital moisture measured reaching and pre-set level shut off. I alwas use the MAX dehumidy
@VirginiaGrowBoy - you are spot on with your review of grows! After what I’ve experienced in my life, I guess I just don’t care about getting upset if things don’t work out. However, I follow smart people (no matter if it’s growing, or if it’s working on motorcycle engines). As I’ve said before, if you want to do something, do your best to do your best. Otherwise, you’re just f’in around.
@BigItch - I’ll continue to train for sure. Trust me, I just had a F it moment when I was trimming one of the Whites - so I topped a secondary node (I did it like I’ve read from this site). We’ll see what happens!
In the end, I just want to grow enough for my personal use…and maybe make some gummy’s when hanging out with friends. That’s it.
This adventure was costly ($1000-$1500) for the setup. But, when I pay $400 an ounce every 2 1/2 months…the math is on my side! ~smile~
