I have inherited two autos in OF and solo cups from someone who all but killed them and now I am desperately trying to resurrect what tiny bit of life remains.
They are yellowing from too many nutes(I believe) and likely root bound. Common sense says get them in larger pots of some neutral soil and water to runoff until within specs, running them in front of a fan to aspirate(I think thats the proper term.),under a conservative DLI(20-22) and see if I can’t perk these girls up.
It would seem to me that any dark/cool period now would be the kiss of death.
Repot. Treat them like any other girl. Cross fingers. Look like they will grow from here.
ty as soon as i can get my hands on 3 gallon fabric pots ,I shall do just that.
in the photo they appear rather green. Not so…bright bright yellow. only the veins are slightly green.
They look sad and overwatered. I’d leave them alone totally until you get larger pots. FFOF soil should be fine. Re-pot in larger pots with fresh soil - Coast of Maine is better but fox farms will do. Water once with pH’d water at 6.5 til just a little bit of runoff. Then leave them alone again until they’re dry and the pot is light.
Only way from here is givem more room. Solid light. Let them eat what the fresh soil has and stretch out root system seeking food. You will see results in a week or so. After they say yay or nay…adjust from there. Just what I would do. The look healthy enough to grow even if stunted being auto. Heck they might perk up and get nuts. See stranger things.
im out of fox farm so its promix ultimate organic… hopefully i can find 3 gallon fabric pots tomorrow,i have 5’s,7’s,10’s and 15’s but no 3’s. Anything larger than 3’s will have to be kept outside and would certainly mean certain death, this time of year in this condition.
That’s a bummer. I bet they’d do amazing things for you in a 5gal but I also understand they’re massive space hogs.
its a 5x5 and there are 2-5 gals and 2-3 gals in there now…it would be one hell of a party with those two under a flower light.
Given that should I consider moving them outside asap. The light is getting switched to preflower for the other 4.

With a 5x5…2 5gal…2 3gal you should have plenty room depending on style. Lst/scrog larger footprint. Straight up topped/fimmed more plants…less headroom. Those being auto potem and stickem in. Light schedule will not matter. DLI will come into effect. 12/12 will not matter to them under good lighting. They dont care. If it was me those 2 would be a straight up no top or fimm. No more stress. Letem grow as god made them and i bet get at minimum a big main from each. Also i have run 6 5gal tight in 4x4 of my 4x8. I just grow them tall instead of wide.
its not the duration of light that gets altered, its the spectrum.these autos get 20 hrs minimum and 23.5 max.and you may see here why it would be tight.
there are 4 of those frames in there now.
As for the spectrum…california Lightworks have recommended spectrum settings to be used with some of their lights as long as you have the necessary controller.
Seedling – R39 W49 B99
Veg – R50 W99 B99
Pre-Flower – R99 W99 B50
Flower – R99 W99 B39
Finishing – R39 W99 B99
We’re switching to preflower tomorrow or by the weekend at least.
And I dont have the stones for topping an auto yet.
Yea those frames eat some room. Nice setup. Cali lightworks makes good gear. As long as blue in spectrum they will still veg. Ruderalis just grows. Hardy siberian stuff.
well the least i can do is get em back on their feet in the room and if they struggle well they’ll hopefully be in a better condition to give old mother nature a shot.
I’m with Graysin, they look like their drowning. I recently switched all my transplants, clones, seedlings to Happy frog from Ocean forest. Seems a little less hot and still has nutes that last a month or so. Let em dry, maybe just mist the leaves for a few days then get em in some bigger pots. JMO
I watered to run off in the 3 gallon fabric pots full of Pro mix organic soil after a 12 hr watering with worm poop soup while in the solo cups which brought them back to a certain extent. When they were in the solo cups they were weightless ,completely dry. Plant 2-12 had run off testing out @ 6.5PH/3.05 EC/1525ppm.and the other nearly dead plant ,2-13, tested out @ 7.0PH/4.20EC/2100ppm.
Wow
something tells me i should have pulled the plug but it always takes a while i guess but with autos…
How are they looking today?
I cut the irretrievable damage off of the one as it wasn’t contributing to the health of the plant whatsoever,as a matter of fact it was quite the contrary and new growth continued quite vibrantly . It made it a no brainer as in began to contemplate what will happen to my other plants if it develops a systemic issue. Good bye charlie with a few leaves. Good news is they’re both once again over on ppm-1410, ph-6.6 and ppm-1905,ph-7.8 They each had received 1/2 gallon H2O @ ph 6.0 and ppm395.
Question: Some of the bigger plants have a little tacoing and reaching after some light LST light defoliation,Am I to worry or is this normal after water to run off and that stuff?
Question: When to lollipop if at all?
Question:What is it you see and to what extent is it when you consider it Officially “Preflower.”
Tacoing is sometimes nitrogen excess, sometimes a heat problem. Can you show photos? that may help narrow down which.
style preference. I like to lollipop (somewhat) right after the transition flip to 12/12 - that saves the plant wasting energy on stuff I’m just going to cut due to insufficient light penetration.
I consider something in “preflower” when the first white pistils begin to show up at the nodes. They are in preflower all the way from initial showing of sex (white hairs emerging) until the flower sites begin to look like hedgehogs - little bursts of white pistils in concentrated areas. Then I consider it to be flowering.
